Some NIU forum stuff.

2,000 might be optimistic. I'm not sure they had much more than 7,500 at Soldier, and no, I'm not exaggerating.

Keep in mind that they are coming off a BCS bowl season. That is a heck of a lot different than a Mobile Alabama bowl season. They should have plenty of fans in IC. That said, they have never really had a fan base. And they are still weak considering they have had a couple of good teams lately...

I know exactly what the situation is. I have only missed two home games in the last fifteen years, and sit next to one of the visitor sections. Several B1G teams bring no more that 2,000 fans, and NIU averaged 15,600 fans last year at home. As you said, they don't have any fans. Imaginary people won't be showing up.

Ok, look. We are talking about a MAC team that lost most of its defense from last year. Iowa should roll over them. Not saying that will happen, but it should. Don't you agree?

Yes, I would agree if they hadn't had such a good year last year and we were anything like we have been in our good years. But as is...no idea what the outcome of this game will be.

Iowa game discussion

Interesting discussion on the upcoming game. They seem to be coming in very cocky while we're down.
I didn't see that much cockiness. I expect them to be 4-5 point favorites.

I did get a laugh out of the comment, "There will be an NIU Alumni Assoc. tent set up at the game." Where do they think they will find room for that? Coral Ridge parking lot?

Just read through their posts. One of the more refreshing things I noticed is that I didn't see any of them being rude to each other like on our site. Almost every thread on our site we have people being dick bags to each other. It's non stop. Didn't see that anywhere in this thread.

I would guess the username HawkeyeMHA is available over there if you want to leave here.

Their fans should feel good about their chances. Iowa is down. And NIU returns most of its offense; the same offense that almost mustered a win against Iowa in Chicago.

Times ... well ... times have been 'a changin. We are down. It takes some adjustment getting used to the fact we now have to worry about games against NIU, NW, Purdue ... It's especially disheartening when you look at our fan base, our facilities, our die-hard passion for Iowa football ... and the commitment the university has shown to Kirk from a financial standpoint ... Boy, things really need to start changing ...

Iowa returns most of its defense also. The same d that dominated NIU for all but 1 play in the second half. Drew Ott didn't even play that game. These guys will be ready to smash them.

I have no problems with any fanbase hyping or potentially over-hyping their program during the offseason, regardless of what program it is or who they happen to be playing. I actually miss the days on here when the offseason was spent getting hyped about the upcoming team and the upcoming season instead of the where we're at now on this site.
