So why are we so bad?

Well one thing you can include is our 2015 class. I remember when a lot of posters thought we had recruited some good athletic players. Hutton (gone) Flemming (gone) Williams (not playing and may be candidate to transfer), Wagner (football player in shorts) Moss (Jury out but hasnt shown much), Jones (injury waiting to happen) Class as a whole (Total bust) Hard to win when you dont have the players

This was going to be a borderline year... I don't think anyone thought we would be this bad.

The players from last year have not gotten better but if anything regressed... besides Jok being about the same.

One reason is the players don't take every possession seriously. So many wasted possessions with bad shots and lazy turnovers. Stop those and we would be decent. Another reason is our second best player is hurt.

Not balancing the class distribution out better with transfers or JUCOs. This will happen again in 4 more years when this year's freshmen class all are gone since Fran didn't RS any of them. That's 6 that will leave. Too many projects having to play early too. Although, if you have more than 1-2 project recruits then recruiting wasn't very good. And the regression of all the guys that returned from last year is really hurting. So basically this team has one senior and freshmen.

We cannot rebound either on top of bad defense. Way too many times theymissed the shot and got the board for a put back or new shot clock.

Busted by another quality point guard and the inability or lack of desire to get back on defense after a shot. We got beat with regularity today on fast breaks.

Any amount of hustle at all could easily erase 5 baskets. Any amount of defensive rebounding effort at all could easily erase 5 baskets. Anything that involves effort at all is killing us right now. The good news is that's something that could turn around quickly. If it does, we could still finish strong with JB and Jok outside and Cook and Pemsl inside.

You simply can't win if your interior defense is this bad. Our perimeter D is pretty bad, but our interior D is even worse.

It seems like whenever they make a few baskets in a row, they straight up give the team a few buckets back. Like you said, you have no chance doing that.

I was at the game today, they are flat out bad I hate to say. Iowa may be lucky to win 3-4 Big 10 games, I don't even see this team making the NIT as of now. No point guard, no dominate big men in the middle, they don't play defense or know how to play it. They are a young team, and it shows in their play. I don't understand how Fran couldn't go out and get a couple 6'10 - 6'11 big men knowing Woody's career was ending. We really lack size. I fear UNI and ISU will just run Iowa out of Carver and DSM next week.

ISU will destroy us due to the talent disparity. UNI will destroy us because they are very disciplined and play smart ball. Not to mention they are very good defensively and aren't lazy.

Yeah I didn't expect that to be the case at all going into the season. Nothing more frustrating than giving up 50 points in the paint every game

Kreiner is 6'10"... we just need to use him more than 2 minutes even if he's mistake prone at first. We have another 2 bigs coming next year but not that it helps this year.

Listen...this isn't a one year rebuilding effort. You are going to lose 25 points off this team next year. I'm just not seeing how we are going to be that much better next year. The players back from last year haven't made a leap...Wagner, Uhl, & Ellingson. Wow...I expected alot from the first two and they just haven't shown up. Top that with Baer playing terrible today and well...that's how you lose to Omaha.

That's precisely what's going to happen. Those will be double digit losses.

can you imagine if this team shows no improvement this year? It's only December 3rd, this could be like the Lickliter years! We'll have like 4-5 thousand fans showing up, and who knows how many for those weekday 8p night games thanks to the Big Network

I don't see how we're better next year unless Connor is better than I expect
