so who is this year's Trojan Horse?

i watched shumpert at the open practice and I'm not sure I saw him catch a ball. Even the ones where he would fake to run a route then stop at the LOS he dropped. It was frustrating to see.

While the comparison may not be on par for some of you perfectionists, you know what he meant, right? At times, if feels like we're all married in here and nit pick each other apart.

As for the hype machine, not sure but someone who picked Shumpert to break out....I would wager against it. The guy just cant catch. He was #3 out of camp last year...and by the end of the year he was in witness protection. He was missing.

It's almost frightening how poor his hands are. I assume he played RB or QB in HS and was converted to WR?

I think with the Trojan Horse reference the OP is asking who is going to get hyped up as good only to not be so good.

Glad somebody else caught that. There's no shortage of people using words and expressions they don't understand. Literally!

But i'll play.

Last year's Trojan horse: Greg Davis

Actually, the whole debate was about what he meant. You had people thinking Trojan Horse meant breakout star, while others (correctly) thought it meant flop. So not everybody seemed to know what the OP meant.

By Trojan Horse I am assuming you mean a gift from our enemies that is actually a surprise attack.

I am guessing Weisman is actually a spy for the Air Force sent to wreck havoc on the Iowa program in order to besmirch the name of a famous Navy man, Nile Kinniick. This is all part of a larger power play on the part of the Air Force to co-opt the Navy's air capabilities.

Uh, it's more than a technicality. It has a completely different meaning from he was (apparently) trying to say. Words mean things. It's best to use those which you understand.

Slight tangent: Does anybody think our offense is designed to accentuate TE receiving skills/production?

I'm not trying to get everybody into the "bash Gregg Davis" mode, but even if executed properly with proper personnel, I don't think his offense is meant to highlight the TE as a receiver.

Am I wrong about this? Was it simply that last year CJF was not running the routes properly of JVB not QBing the routes properly? It seemed to me that he was essentially posting up on the block like Russ Millard.
