So who is the guy Fran was / still is "personally" recruiting?

So with Hubbard and Olaseni on board is there still a guy Fran is personally recruiting or was it one of them?

I agree that it was Hubbard. It sounds like he would have to put a lot of time in with that particular situation. However, I know coaches have other responsibilities, but I would think they would be able to "personally recruit" more than one player at a time. So, maybe there is one more.

Yeah, I just don't know if that was Francis' way of letting Glover down easy. Because Hubbard is listed on Rivals as a Dillard recruit.

I am just hoping that there is one more yet to come. Reason I say that is that both Hub and Olaseni were known commodities in terms of our recruitment of them yet the comment about Fran personally recruiting somebody leads me to believe there is some unknown element and just maybe that means it was neither Hub nor Olaseni......probably just wishful thinking on my part. I am thrilled with the recruiting class as is but if there is one more piece I would start to be about as excited as I have been in Iowa basketball since I woke up March 17, 1980 to read the headline of the Des Moines Register Big Peach:"FABULOUS FEW IN FINAL FOUR"

Yep that game that put them into the finale four was awesome! Who can forget the three point layup by one of the twin towers that sealed that game. Can't remember which one made the layup but I am pretty sure (100%) his first name was Steve.....lol. The Steve and Steve show. I think it was Steve W. and not Steve K.

You're thinking of Steve Waite (an Iowa City native) and Steve Krafcisin (who transferred from North Carolina).

One of the greatest moments in my sports life, junior in college watching the game with about 40-50 other students in a dorm lounge, place erupted!!! remember it like yesterday, Lute owned the state, would go to golf functions and the crowd would chant, Lute, Lute, Lute, with him, Hayden and Dan Gable Glory Days!

thanks drummer, I didn't want to slaughter their names by trying to spell it out. I think I would have been ok with Waite but I didn't want to even touch Krafcisin. Let's hope we are witnessing the return of such great experiences with Fran and crew.

I'm hoping Josh Mason is being pursued. His measurables for a pg are out of sight.....6'11" wingspan and 6'4" tall. That would give the Hawks 4 players with wingspans far beyond their actual height....Marble, Olaseni, White and Hubbard. Those passing lanes would be a whole lot narrower.

Percy Gibson would also be an outstanding addition but I prefer another pg behind BC.

I like what I hear about Mason...a juco addition would free up a scholly in 2013 when we only have two now....and a quick long defender on the perimeter is greatly needed also.

Yes definitely one of my greatest sport memories from when I was younger. My sister was in school at Iowa back then - I would be there a few years later so never got to go to any bball games in the Fieldhouse unfortunately but watched ever single freaking game on TV like religion. Man we had a good run of ball for quite some time....

I think it's also possible that maybe everyone was putting too much stock into what Glover said.

Yah that was a great time in Iowa basketball. The fieldhouse was totally intimidating and extremely loud. When fans go to stomping on those bleachers it would just echo in there. I remember the announcers saying during the Purdue game this year that it is getting load in here and that they were waking up some echos. Let's hope that becomes a familiar scene from here on out.

I wish I lived closer I would have season tickets for myself, wife, and three kids but alas Atlanta, Georgia is a bit of a commute. I did enjoy talking football on the phone the other day while standing in line at a captain D's restaurant. I made sure I told my friend on the cell phone how much fun it was shutting down Georgia Tech and beating LSU, South Carolina, and Florida and how all those games were good scrimmages. I made sure I said it loud and clear too.....lol. No one said anything but I did get some looks....lol.

I will never forget that game. It was played in Philadelphia, my home town. My sister sent me the Philadelphia Inquirer sports page with the headline, Best in the East, IOWA.

Speaking of Philadelphia and Iowa, I was watching the Philadelphia Flyers-Buffalo Sabers seventh game last night, and lo and behold, the announcers mentioned the Iowa Wrestling Team. The refs called holding on one of the Flyers and the announcer said that if he was on the Iowa Wrestling Team, he would have received points instead of a penalty. Good to hear something positive about the Hawks, rather than the Media inclination to chastise our beloved Hawks.
