So... what Bowl Game is most likely

I think all we need to address Fry's "Stay Off My Lawn" attitude about Bowls is to have tiers:

The CFB should not play in any bowls. Those teams are in the playoffs and they each round already has a name. Should not be bowl related at all.

Then, you take the big traditional bowls like Rose, Orange, Fiesta, Sugar, Cotton and Peach and call them Championship Bowls. These are for the next 12 best teams as determined by the CFPB.

Give those teams that don't make the CFP a secondary goal to be in a Championship Bowl game. Keep that limited to 6 bowls played on or around New Years. That would make 24 teams that either make the CFP or a Championship Bowl. The winning team splits a million bucks, but that only goes to guys who play in the game. Opt outs get nothing.

Every other bowl is just a bowl and a funsy deal for the fans and team and band, but no prestige.

I like this. How would we select the teams for each of our Championship Bowls™? I'd say we move away from any conference affiliations. The past is done.

We could leave it up to the committee to come up with the match-ups for the 13-24 teams. That doesn't feel right though. How about a televised lottery?

We know who the teams are going to be. On selection Sunday, a couple representatives from each school show up. Names of the schools go in a hopper. Ping pong ball gets picked - and it's Texas. As the first pick, they choose which bowl they want. Say they choose the Cotton. Maybe the Hawks are the second ball pulled. Beth Goetz and Barb Wilson have 15 minutes to submit their pick. They are on camera, each working a phone. Calling Kirk, calling Tyler Barnes, maybe check in with a sugar daddy or two. Beth and Barb can either choose to play Texas in the Cotton, or pick another bowl where they don't know the opponent yet.

Now that's some good TV. As you get deeper into the draft, grievances start to emerge. LSU only picked the Fiesta because they think they can smoke Boise State and they want another W on the record. Boise State doesn't like that.

Let's get this done.

Love it. Leave it to chance and the school selection.

That said, you might end up getting less awesome matchups. Having the Committee do it with no strings might be best.
