I think all we need to address Fry's "Stay Off My Lawn" attitude about Bowls is to have tiers:

The CFB should not play in any bowls. Those teams are in the playoffs and they each round already has a name. Should not be bowl related at all.

Then, you take the big traditional bowls like Rose, Orange, Fiesta, Sugar, Cotton and Peach and call them Championship Bowls. These are for the next 12 best teams as determined by the CFPB.

Give those teams that don't make the CFP a secondary goal to be in a Championship Bowl game. Keep that limited to 6 bowls played on or around New Years. That would make 24 teams that either make the CFP or a Championship Bowl. The winning team splits a million bucks, but that only goes to guys who play in the game. Opt outs get nothing.

Every other bowl is just a bowl and a funsy deal for the fans and team and band, but no prestige.

God it must suck being this unhappy all the time. What would you rather being doing on December 29th than watching the Hawks play football?????

Seriously, the first part was hilarious. You forgot to add that it is being broadcast on ESPN8 The Ocho.

Seriously, seriously, I know you hate bowl games, but why? Isn't every game where Iowa has been eliminated from the conference title and CFPB pretty much an exhibition game? What meaning does the MSU game really have? Not much. I am still going to be locked in and watching the game. I love Iowa football. I would watch practice if they livestreamed it. It doesn't have to mean something for me to care about it. That is what makes college football so cool.
Would never happen, but with all the players opting out, it would be interesting to have teams showcase and play the younger players coming thru the program, like the redshirts, & sophs. That would be interesting to watch and the players would want to play. Also, they would have a benefit for all the work they have put in through the year. I could get into watching a Hawk game with who may be the future starters or stars. A chance to get a look at them prior to the next season.

You need to be the Czar of college football, my friend! This is spectacular.

This is what I've wanted all along. That covers the best 24 teams in college football and gives teams like Iowa who aren't ever going to make the playoffs something to shoot for when you just lost 2 in a row and have nebraska and MSU left on the schedule.

Can still let the 6-6 and 5-7 teams play exhibition games if they want, but we're not calling them bowls. We're calling them scrimmages. Which is precisely what they are. Let those also-rans make their own matchups/locations/schedule/etc.

I don’t have a problem with any of that except the Championship Bowl designation. Change it to Participation Ribbon Bowl and I’m onboard.

No. They are bowls. They are just not Championship Bowls.

As the newly appointed CFB Czar, I can't take 35 other bowls and call them a scrimmage and then turn around and ask ESPN for 15 million per in broadcasting rights. They are bowls, their fans care about them, some get 40,000 fans to show up in person. We are not calling them a scrimmage.

Stop pretending that the term bowl is somehow sacrosanct. Did you watch the last Pro Bowl, Fry?!? :)
