Thing I found odd is Rutgers won’t commit to renovations, improvements unless Schaino secures 50% of the money needed.
So, doesn’t Iowa change from Penn State to Rutgers as its locked east opponent in a few years?
That’s one good reason to get rid of the current administration. These guys just don’t get it. That’s why they will be getting paid by the B1G. So that they are able to make upgrades. If you spend it all on new libraries or on the science dept., you’ll never get anything done. Football and basketball will pay the bills. Upgrade your small college football field and arenas first or you will forever be playing catch-up. They’ve got to do something to lure in football and basketball talent with facilities that compete with other programs.Thing I found odd is Rutgers won’t commit to renovations, improvements unless Schaino secures 50% of the money needed.
Nothing is getting replaced in conference if Rutgers improves. There are only so many wins available. If they rise up somebody has to slip back and take an L for Rutger's W

I believe they will start getting a full share next year. They have already been getting a partial share as it is. When the next television deal gets signed, everyone will get even more. I guarantee you, as subscribers, we will be paying higher subscription fees too. Do you think it’s fair that Schiano is the one who has to help raise $50 million dollars? Isn’t that supposed to be the AD’s job anyway. Hell, they might as well make him the AD while they’re at it.You don't think those guys understand their own budget better than you do?
Rutgers has been running a huge deficit in the AD forever. They still are, and don't get a full B1G payout yet. They're trying to somewhat balance the books while building facilities. There isn't a never ending supply of money.
It will take a guy like Schiano to turn Rutgers around similar to what Hayden did here at Iowa. Hayden had to threaten to quit just to get a practice bubble and to get other projects going. Schiano turned them down initially until he got a commitment from the administration to give him the tools to succeed. It wasn’t just about his contract. Is this "complain about college athletics" mad libs?
Rutgers needs to energize their fan base. I know it would cost them some money but they should consider going independent to play an easier schedule. Having an empty stadium because of a killer conference schedule is costing them more in the big picture.
Does Rutgers even have a fanbase? I mean I’ve never actually met a Rutgers fan before. Met Rutgers alums, just not fans.
