So...Iowa has to take one...

You think this Oklahoma team is like past Oklahoma teams? Ok. The reality is we really don't know how good the B12 is...and it's likely not good...considering one of the top teams got beat by Louisiana...and not only got beat...but got physically abused. Louisiana ran the ball the length of the field over and over again late in the fourth quarter...no throws...just pounded the Cyclones like B10 teams do. Run, run, run, run, run, run, run, run...touchdown! THIS DOESN'T HAPPEN TO GOOD TEAMS LATE IN THE FOURTH QUARTER.

Seriously...a manhood removing drive...and ISU just whimpered and took it. Hell Campbell wouldn't even call a timeout...as he just wanted it to end.

Not to defend the Clowns here, but the top Sun Belt teams are every bit as good as the mid pack Big Ten teams. In game 1, weird things happen. Based on how we looked against Purdouche, I'm pretty sure Louisiana would have been a coin toss game against us. We couldn't stop that Horvath kid from Purdue that game and Louisiana prolly has a better blocking and running attack than Purdouche.

As the population moves south, those Sun Belt teams are going to keep getting better.

Right, the Sun Belt has probably moved past the Big 12.

Yes, we all know there are decent teams in the Sun Belt. But how often do you see the best team in the Big 12 get curb stomped by any team from the Sun Belt? Louisiana is a decent team, put them in the Big Ten and they'd probably finish .500 or better but no way would they win it and Ohio State would trash them. Iowa State thinks they are elite right now, because they are winning a Big 12 that's down. Good for them taking advantage of the situation.

The first time and probably the last time I will say this: Playing Michigan is irrelevant. Obviously the old wooden bucket or whatever it is called matters more. Which is dumb as hell.
1) This whole season is irrelevant.

2) Playing Indiana would've been ten times as irrelevant.

Whether it's relevant or not, playing Michigan will have national viewership, and beating Michigan to go 7-2, 7 in a row, and hopefully keep the under 25 points streak going will look damn good to recruits.

Give me Michigan over the fake news Hoosiers any day of the week.

Dude, give them credit. Louisiana was a first game and this season took Purdy a bit to get up to speed. They lost to OK St. #6 at the time by 3. They have 1 of the better 2 if not best D in that league. They have the top RB in college football. I'm sure you will comment that it's because they play in the BIG 12.

One of Iowa's best seasons was when they nearly lost to UNI in the FG block fiasco. It happens to teams. I agree Louisiana prob would go about .500 in a P5 league playing that caliber team on a week to week basis. But, these kinds of teams can really get up to play that solitary big game, especially at the start of the season. That's nothing new the past at least 15 years.

Fair statement, but the biggest difference I see in the comparisons is that at the end of the day a win is still a win and a loss is still a loss. ISU lost to Louisiana. Iowa beat UNI. So while I see what your saying and agree with you, the difference in comparing seasons (or even referencing them for comparison purposes) is that ISU lost and Iowa regardless of how ugly found a way to win.

I am giving them credit, Iowa State is the best team in the Big 12. But that conference is down and they did get trashed by a Sun Belt team

I see that you are saying, but, in the end, both teams ended up the season strong and with a great record. Both ended the season with 2 losses and ranked #7 in the nation.

Not just a win vs a loss...it was an 18 point differential. Iowa eeked out a win, the clones lost by 3 scores.

So because Iowa St. floated to the top of the BIG 12, the BIG 12 is down. What about the BIG 10, is it elite? PAC 12?

Let me ask you, how would you envision an Iowa vs Iowa State game going, if played this Saturday?

Both teams call it off due to covid and as a punishment they end up playing each other in a New Years day bowl game.

Iowa State is winning the Big 12 so it has to be down! :)

Big Ten is Ohio State and a bunch of muck...Iowa, Indiana, and Northwestern are all marginally above the rest of the muck.

Iowa vs Iowa State would be a good game. If the 2nd half Petras showed up Iowa probably wins.

Edit - and at the bottom of the muck is Nebraska! lol

Not to piss all over the Sun Belt love happening here...but it's the Sun Belt. My god, the issue wasn't that they lost to a Sun Belt team...IT WAS THE WAY THEY LOST. Louisiana put on their big boy pants and ran the ball straight at them on the lasts drive...no passes...and ISU knew they had to stop the run...and had the box stacked...and they got absolutely pummelled...12 straight runs or something like that.

It's like saying the Iowa team in 2016 was a great team. North Dakota State did the same thing to us...late in the game...smash mouthed us. 2016 was not a great defense.

Also...for those of you bringing up UNI...in 2009...yes...weird shit happens in that first few games. I completely agree...but great teams find a way to win...however improbable. They win those games. Also...UNI didn't bloody our nose in some mano a' mano power football touchdown drive late to seal it. They were throwing it all over the place and only scored 16...or whatever.

I am usually not one clamoring to have to watch Iowa vs Iowa St. every year, but, it would be an interesting game at the end of this year. I'd be neat to see Iowa knock them down a notch or two!
