So does anyone want to talk about

The last two Iowa basketball teams have been fascinating just because they really are a fine example of luck vs clutch. And of course I mean that they would be interesting if I liked another team but since I'm an Iowa fan it's excruciating, they're still interesting but emotionally draining.

I agree with what you're saying. I don't think this team is mentally tough. I have to believe that we just aren't ready to win yet. You can see it in the coaches and the players when it gets to crunch time. Coach has had a tendency to play some players in the last 5 minutes of the game that make you scratch your head and I have to believe its because he feels those guys are 'gamers'. I can think of one in particular. Coach also seems to go away from the true C position late in the game which is also coincidentally the position that I just referenced. Coach also tends to rely on Dev to run the point during that last stretch and ultimately we end up with a player running the point that is good at getting himself points but no one else, and a player playing down low that has a tendency to give a foul +1 more than I care to remember. Those two decisions just boggle the mind imo and for the life of me I can't figure out why he does it.

All of this boils down to one thing: We are not a program that is accustomed to winning right now. Winning just doesn't come easy and our nut sacks seem to tighten up at the wrong times. Once this team and coaching staff have confidence that the starters can get it done at the beginning AND end of the game, and the players believe that they are going to win, then we are going to make some serious noise.

I think this team and coaching staff saw something in the Purdue win that some have been calling for for the better part of the year. Less minutes from a roll player, more minutes from the true PG on the team, and more minutes for Olaseni and Woody. Ultimately that combination led us to a win in a tightly fought game against arguably an inferior opponent but a win is a win is a win and the light seemed to come on.

I get the above ramble is kinda rambling... so i guess what i mean is

Nova>Hawks
ISU>Hawks
Wisconsin>Hawks
Michigan>Hawks
Michigan State>Hawks
TOSU>Hawks or in this case a push, but in the same league.

we lost on the road to two teams Iowa was probably better than in MN and IN, it happens even to the great teams. But for the most part, we've lost to teams better than Iowa. Hawks tend to lose to teams that are better at basketball and beat teams they are better than, it's not rocket science. The "what could have been" crowd can eat one cause, what could have been didn't happen, so NO, it couldn't have been or it would have. I realize I am making little to no sense anymore.

Like I said, most people who are awake would dissagree.

At best they are comprable, other than msu but we played them at half strength. There is zero excuse for Iowa to have lost half those games, especialy Isu, Nova and Msu all choke jobs.

Anyone paying attention knows who should have won those.

There is a difference between having a bit of a lead and hitting free throws when intentionally fouled and hitting a last second shot to win or send it to OT. Hawks have done the former more than once this year...
