the metaphorical idiom of the 7 minute elephant in the room and finally getting the W in a close game?
Just curios.
Just curios.
If it was a blowout over a good or bad team, still can't win a close one. If it's a close one against a bad team, still can't win a close one cause it shouldn't have been close. IL game wasn't close, Xavier, not close either. This team has won it's share of close games. They've also lost their share of close ones against good teams.
Unfortunately, most people will discredit this because it wasn't against a "good" team. I agree though, it was awesome to see Mike put the game on ice. Big confidence builder now that it's March.

I disagree. I think Purdue is better than most realize. They were a lucky bounce away from beating the B1G regular season champions just a few days ago. Their center AJ Hammons is an absolute beast and was the best player on the floor for several minutes yesterday. Their guards are lightning quick and can drive and score - even against the zone. If they clean up their turnovers and play better defense they will make some noise next year. I was impressed with Purdue's effort and attitude on the road right after a heartbreaking loss.
There's enough data out there to concretely say that Purdue is decent at best (.500 team so they're not terrible but they sure aren't any good and terrible for a major conference team seems fairly accurate.) They aren't better than most realize unless that person is really stupid.
my head is in the sand because I don't think the Hawks have issues with close games? They don't, they've won plenty. I actually think it's a fact that IOWA isn't the better team in most cases, and hence they lose. Tends to happen when you're NOT better than the other team more times then not. Iowa is the 4th or 5th best team in the conference and has a whole season of proof to show it.
Eh, possibly true but they've blown multiple basket leads in the last few minutes plenty of times in the last two years. That's a sign of either terrible luck or choking regardless of who they are playing (they aren't so much worse than most of these teams that they should be out played by so much in the last few minutes of a game in which you've outplayed the opponent by so much.)
