Smith Calls Out Stanley In Postgame

i want to be clear that i still think stanley should be the starter. but B.S. with no B.S. is right on. stanley is a 3 yr SR starter and he now has 8 tds and 4 ints in 6 games. halfway through his SR season he has those stats.

now, the greater faults lay with kirk, brian and polasek. our entire offensive design sucks. our route trees are from the 70's, except when we run our 3 yard horizontals on 3rd and 8. we need an brand new offensive scheme. period. and kirk and brian aren't going to do that. so, sit back, put your feet up and enjoy the ride.

I have said it from the beginning. Brian Ferentz has absolutely no business being the OC of this team. He is COMPLETELY clueless. The entire offensive staff needs to go, and KF needs to hang it up as well. This is beyond pathetic.

well, i think copeland and foster have proved themselves. our wr's aren't the issue, though, there have been some drops. at least they are not getting open consistently. our rb's are in the middle of an upgrade and i like what foster is doing there.

WRs are far ahead of the RBs. They catch the ball better. Run through tackles just as well. Routes are better. Hell, They block better.

I counted one bunch route on the night and you know what it went for 30 yards if we ran those vs Michigan every other play we would've scored 21+ If they are running man to man run a freaking bunch or pick route it isn't that hard. You want them to stop blitzing with no regard you need to free up receivers in 1-3 seconds this is the only way.

Brandon smith will be benched. Calling it now.

Yeah Kirk struggles with players who are outspoken. This is the most outspoken I've heard him be. But Kirk has been very complementary of him since he got here. It will probably take more than this.

I'm sure its frustrating for him to be such a terrific athlete and play in an offense with such poor coaches.

not a chance he’s benched, but I guarantee he hears about it. The more alarming thing to me is that frustration like this can tear apart locker rooms, and once that happens? Hello, 7-5 and transfers.

Loads of problems with this offense, and has been since Greg Davis

i can’t tell what Iowa’s scheme is. Are we power run, are we a RPO, are we a spread ? It’s like he’s trying to be everything but in the end we are nothing.

Iowa’s zone blocking doesn’t work anymore for the run game. PSU was literally pointing to the hole for the RB pre snap (which happens against all the good teams) and our RB stand no chance. Young had a few decent runs but this team needs a RB who can break big plays. Goodson has it but dude got blown up a ton tonight.

Route Trees are horrible.

Stanley isn’t accurate at all

OL, mainly the middle of it is the worst I’ve ever seen. Why can’t we recruit Guards??? Guess part of the problem is our Tackles are the guards at next level.

Brian is clueless. You’re seeing exactly the kind of offensive football that a Center could draw up. Ditto for his dad.

we’ve scored two TD now against our best competition
TD against ISU on short field
Miracle catch against PSU

This offense it absolutely helpless and Kirk is going to go on chewing his GD gum and saying "that's football.." "you know we had 2 TOs again at critical times..." Yeah you did because your OL broke down like a chinese toy.

Or a tackle. The next tackle Young breaks will be his first. Never seen a 225lb power back go down with arm tackles like him.

Taking out Rutgers and Iowa's has driven the ball 1x against a P5 D.

M gave up 25 to IL and 48 to Wisc. ISU had it's best P 5 D game against UI, but not by a large margin.

Can we begin to agree that all of these debacles haven't been just random. 66 yards and several below 200 yard games in a season. Allowing a hurt QB to be pummeled into Oblivion is unusual.

There is something majorly wrong.

When Smith watches the film he will see along with everyone else one major problem...the o line. They simply were man handled by Penn St. It's not all on Nate he was under duress most every play. He wasn't extremely accurate but after the beat down he took I can understand it. Also, the film will show Sargent disappeared on picking up a blitz up the middle. He was terrible .

Was Stanley actually injured enough to not be in the game??

But I agree that Stanley can make 3 really good throws then he throws a really bad pass like the one behind B Smith on the short slant at the goal like.

His TD throw, his bullet to Weiting for about 25 yards, some great throws.

But it seems he locks up or his mechanics go awry when he has a short throw he knows is upcoming. It is definitely like he is thinking about the throw instead of it being natural.

TD throw???? Smith probably made the catch of the year in college football to haul in that severely underthrown ball.
