I'm on board with Duff. I grow tired of the "He gone" comments when the "Big boys" come calling anytime Iowa is recruiting a top flight player. Iowa has been down for a bit, but Iowa does have some damn good tradition as well.

Back to that group of pessimist, they were very vocal, like it was a foregone conclusion. What they didn't factor in is that Fran and his staff seem to be relentless workers on the recruiting trail. Now we are looking at 2 four star top 100 kids coming in. Great job by Fran.
 
Yeah burky and HawkeyeMike were both pretty confident. Spanky "liked our chances" I don't know if I would put him on that list.

But let's do this AFTER he makes his announcement.
 
I'll take some credit here as well. Go back and look at my responses on Woodbury. I've always felt he would be a Hawkeye regardless of who offered. There is something to growing up a Hawkeye in this state. Adam imo, is much like Matt Gatens, in that no matter who offered, he bleeds black and gold and just couldn't turn down being a Hawk.

Not true.
I've said since Day One that Woodbury and Gesell would be Hawks when they received offers. That's a fact.

I had some concerns when UNC offered, but did not waiver from thinking Iowa was going to get him.
 
This isn't supposed to be a boast or brag thread. This is supposed to be about gathering names of the naysayers so that it's easier to round them all up and lynch them.

I was talking about after he had gotten the UNC offer as there were plenty saying he was going to be a Hawk before. You were still saying you thought he was going to be a Hawk but you were not as confident once he got the UNC offer.

I get that, but I've maintained Iowa would land Woodbury from the start.
 
For the most part, the thread showed that many hawk fans still felt like we either had a shot or good shot yet at him.....but keeping to Duffs focus to this thread, here is a list of the more negative attitudes:

FML: Kids don't turn down UNC for Iowa. Sorry hawk fans.

SteveGarvey: Folks, he ain't coming to Iowa now. ROY= ruin our year.

TChawk: And he is gone....

clonedude: Woodbury would be an idiot not to go to UNC. But... it all depends on how big of a Hawkeye fan he is I guess? It's tough to not want to play for your favorite school growing up.

With that being said, does he want to be the next Gatens? Not that Gatens had an offer from UNC, but I wonder if he ever asks himself what could have been if he hadn't gone to Iowa? Iowa's been a morgue for Gaten's entire career. Kinda feel for him actually.

DBAHawkFan: he's gone!

Hutch1963: Keep thinking he's coming to Iowa. Of course he's coming we haven't had a NCAA appearance in several years, we can't fill our arena but he can lead the rebirth of Iowa basketball. Or he can go to North Carolina where you play on national TV almost every game and get to talk to NBA legend players. Also you contend every year for a conference and national title. You get to play everyday in practice against top notch players which will prepare him for the NBA. But keep thinking he's coming to Iowa. That's what clone fans kept hoping for with Barnes.

Hutch1963: No i'm a realist and if he was my son and I'm a life long Hawk fan and alumnus I would suggest he go to NC and not Iowa. What gives him the best chance of getting to the NBA? What would you suggest to your son?
 
I honestly thought he would end up at The Ohio State, Matta has a great history of developing post players to the NBA, I hope I'm wrong because Woodbury would bring a ton of positive exposure to Hawkeye Basketball that we havent seen in a long time!!!!!
 
Too early. Most Iowa fans thought Uthoff was gonna be a Hawkeye on the day he announced also. This whole thread gives me the heebie-jeebies. Call me prudent,or just superstitious, but lets make sure Adam commits to Iowa before starting the celebration,eh?
