Should The BIG Network Pipe In Noise And Fans In Broadcasted Games?

When there's no crowd and everyone is aware of it, then what is the point of putting posters in the seats or piping in music. We are all aware of what is going on and the experience for players, coaches, and fans is as far from normal as you can get so why try to normalize it. It is what it is and no matter what they do to try to recreate it or make it any less weird is not helping.

It wasn't used in Carver during the Lickleiter years so why should it be used now.

Maybe it should have been!!

I heard the stadium staff at Nebraska are being required to put cow dung in each seat so they can still claim their consecutive sell out streak during these pandemic games. If they are willing to go to those lengths to keep this ongoing lie alive...well...my toilet seat is down for them.
Meh, what's the difference between last year and this?

I watched Manchester United play on Saturday, they piped crowd noise in and you would never know Old Trafford was completely empty. I like the idea.

I think it's a pretty dumb idea. The whole thing about crowd noise is that it's reactionary. An interception, TD, dunk, bad call by an official...those things all add to the dynamic when a crowd goes nuts.

Crowd noise piped in might seem like a good idea, but think about how dumb it'll sound when some CB takes a pick six back to the house and there's no reaction from the "crowd."

Just leave it quiet; it'll at least be something unique for people to talk about for the next sports season.

Just have to have somebody quick on the trigger!

Will we get a disclaimer during the pregame that "this game was not taped in front of a live audience". Or will it be just assumed since, you know, there's absolutely no one in attendance.

I like it too. I watched the ST.L Cardinals play Pitts. on MLB the other day, with injected fan noise, and yeah, it made it seem more "normal." If it takes our minds off the virus that is corrupting our everyday lives and helps us to enjoy our sports then, yeah, I'm all for it.

Absolutely. You're going to have to put someone up there to turn up the volume on 3rd down when the home team in on D and get the boing tracked up when the visitors score a TD. Have fun with it but as I said in a prior post there has to be volume limits put in place that are followed.
