Should Iowa Claim National Championships for 1921 and 1922?

How old are you guys? Did some of you attend the games in 1921 & 1922?!??

Yes, we are old. There has been a lot more past than there is future.

I just get tired of all of these schools claiming "questionable" national championships. I could give you 100 examples.

The 1921 and 22 teams were DOMINANT and deserve recognition. They don't care anymore, but we should care. Heck, michigan claims national titles from before those years, I believe.

You are both correct. Calvin Jones, #62. Interesting that only two are retired. Of course with eighty five schollies plus non scholarship players they would run out of numbers fast. Some wear duplicates as it is.
I know he's listed as having No. 15 on Iowa's Ring, but I've never seen a photo of him with a number on his jersey. Not sure Iowa wore numbers back then. One thing about him, he never wore a helmet.

I don't know why not. They have a compelling case in each of the two season:

1921

7-0 Record
Outright Big Ten Champions (never trailed in any of their seven games)
Invited to the Rose Bowl, but Big Ten blocked their trip
Voted #1 by numerous pollsters or rating services

1922

7-0 record (Beat a powerful Yale team in a road game)
Big Ten Co-champions
Voted #1 by at least one rating service

Iowa should recognize these seasons as national championship seasons, along with 1958. I don't know why they do not do it (there was no AP poll during those years)
Yes! Iowa Surfer did ages ago...That's me.Bosses should do a video ect.PR campaign no? They can afford it.Go Hawks......
