Should Doyle be disciplined?

Fired perhaps....

A S&C program shouldn't put guys in the hospital....

If workouts are that rigorous, the trainers should have a recovery program in place and should know what medicines or supplements their players are using. This is a BAD job by the training staff.

Maybe it would be prudent to wait until all the facts are known before hanging anyone.

What facts do you want.

1. Went through grueling workouts

2. may or may not have supplemented.

Either way it is the staff's job to educate the players on supplements and medication and make sure they are hydrated, even if IV's are necessary... I don't think this is that complicated of an issue.

Went through grueling workouts like every player in every other program.
May or may not have supplemented.
I want all the facts before I call for an accounting, in that way I know exactly what it is that I want accounted.

Fired for all the fourth quarter collapses and not having the defensive line in shape, maybe...I think we should just make him do his own 100 squat workout as punishment.

Doyle knows more about how to get players on the field than most trainers in the NFL. This guy has been a difference maker in this program and we now, with absolutely no information implicating him in this situation, want him fired. Wow. good idea.

Have we learned nothing from the "20 caught with drugs" episode? Give it some time. Though 12 players went maybe some of them were just precautionary. Maybe there was a cause like an illness going around. Just give it some time.

Unfortunately, there are those who are incapable of learning from past mistakes. They think that because the details are different they are somehow right to make the same mistakes over and over again.

If Doyle is found to have done something wrong, then, and only then should we be talking about discipline. Right now, our concern should be on the 13 players and their health. If anyone really wants to help, don't jump to conclusions, like so many of the national press seems to be doing.

No, but we have taken a poll and the vast majority think you should be ....

I don't want to wait for facts, the guy should be fired tomorrow morning.

It's not his fault we don't have tough enough players. He saw the same thing we all did last fall. Out of shape, tired players fading at the end of the games. He took it upon himself to change that, now that we have identified the weak links on the team, we know where we need to get better.

Epic fail. Let's wait 'til all the facts are in.

Good one Keefebag. These kids could have bought a supplement at
GNC or online which could have been the culprit. And you want Doyle fired without an investigation.

Good one Keefebag. I hope you're not in management.

You have no idea about anything you are spewing and Chris Doyle is one of the most well respected LEADERS in our field. Yes I am in the same field and am sitting with a handout by Chris entitled, "Performance Nutrition Facts and Fallacies, An Alternative Approach" that he and Dr. Paul W Baumert,Jr., M.D., FAAFP passed out at a seminar a couple of years ago. These two gentleman represent everything that is right about the U of I and also are very Food First proactive with the members of the football program. Athletes nutritional requirements vary when it comes to fluids, electrolytes, carbohydrates, protein, vitamins and minerals but there is always an emphasis in the Iowa program of food first.

There are very easy explanations at this time of year to an incedent like this happening. Until those facts come out you need to back down about any comment about Chris Doyle and what you do not know about him as a person or the way he runs his program.

I disagree. This board wants immediate action on everything. DJK should have been sent to the federal pen for 25 to life a few short weeks ago. Facts are irrelevant, mob reaction FTW.

100 squats does absolutley no good. Now if they were weightless squats, then maybe. But then they wouldnt be in the hospital either. We just better hope no one tore anything and has some long term damage. STUPID!
