SHOOTING WILL BE THE DIFFERENCE

All of what you mentioned is important to winning games. Iowa shot well enough to win at Michigan (3-point shooting aside of 20%). But Michigan made just 8-27 3-pointers. The difference in the game was Iowa turned it over on 21% of its possessions, while Michigan turned it over on 15% of theirs. Those extra possessions were the difference.

In conference play, Marble is hitting 52% of his 3's, Oglesby 50% and Uthoff 50%. Those percentages are not sustainable, but Gesell and McCabe will likely see their % come up. Iowa is shooting 37.7% on 3's in conference play. If Iowa gets through 18 games still shooting that percent, the team will have won a lot of games.

Iowa lost to Michigan by failing to take care of little things and Michigan has a very hot player right now (Stauskas). He won't play at that level for another month-plus. Iowa just needs to take care of business Saturday at Northwestern and set up a big home game with MSU.

Stauskas has played well all season, except Duke...he is the best player in the BIG so far this season.

He aint gonna look so good in Carver. Mark it down.

I honestly think he will look about as good in Carver. However, I think we will look MUCH better and I don't think his supporting cast will be looking too great. He played very well against us. We did not play well at all and we were in the game. We should get the rematch.

Another good sign today...Marble was 7-7 from the line.

He must have figured something out because he is stroking them like he did last year. With his ability to get to the line if he continues to hit those FT it will help the team lock down close games.
