Shonn Greene Just Took One To The House...

As much as I love Greene, and he can do it all...LT...this guy is a PREMIER back...and he's also mentoring Greene along with Richardson

LT's struggles the past few years had much more to do with SD's offensive line play. LT has lost a little bit of his game, to the point where he is more dependent on his O-Line than he used to be. But not enough to say he's not still one of the top-flight backs (if he's behind a good line).

Food for thought...

Had the Jets not acquired LT, what would Greene's number's look like? Would Richardson be getting more carriers? Probably. Hypothetically Greene could be a top 3 back right now as far as production is considered in this scenario. He's still in the top 20 and could find his way into the top 10 possibly if he stays healthy and gets a better percentage of the carries. But I doubt that is what the Jets are looking for right now. I think Greene stated somewhere, and I will try to find it, that LT has been the best mentor he could ever ask for and I am sure that he has been tutored plenty on the pro game.

At any rate, I am just happy Greene is doing well.

Yeah, if SG didn't have to split carries for at least the next 2 years, I would not have traded him. I got LeSean McCoy back though and that guy is one of the few featured backs in the league. Plus he is pretty good. Either way, GO SHONN!!!

In some ways this sharing time with LT is good for Shonn. He needs to show enough to get a nice contract after this one expires but not so much that he has seriously compromised his longevity with too many carries. Until he gets that second contract, his "set for life money" remains at risk. He still looks damn good when he carries the ball; if he could only become even an adequate receiver!

There's no way the Jets would have went into the season with just Greene and no proven back up. He is only in his second year and struggled with both injuries and fumbles as a rookie. That's not a guy you can completely trust yet.

I think Greene will get more and more carries as the season goes on. LT is getting more carries now, and has a hell of a lot more career mileage on him, so I could easily see him getting worn down toward the end of the season and Greene once again finishing the year strong.

In half the carries Greene Got more than half the yards LT did. He will earn more carries as the season goes I have no doubt about that. Right now Greene's Career is going exactly As it should and setting up perfectly for him.

Even though I'd love to see a former Iowa player get more carries, I think the Jets are using Shonn very effectively to spell LT and to insert him in critical situations, such as short yardage for the first down and fresh legs late in the game to burst through the line for longer yardage.

Aside from his touchdown run last night, all you see him get is about 1-3 yds per carry. Any defense knows that the Jets are going to do one of two things when he's in; run the ball, or play action. Good to see him get 6!

I thought that acquiring LT was a brilliant move by the Jets. Not only will it end up helping Greene durability-wise ... but LT will be able to teach Greene SO much. Really smart move. When you have a franchise quality RB like Greene ... you want to help the guy maximize his potential. Really smart move ...

It was just a financial move and they got lucky that LT isn't quite as washed up as people thought. Thomas Jones was a good, verteran leader who could have helped Greene out too, but the Jets cut him to save $3M.

All I know is during several of his rushes, Shonn Greene was getting stopped by some dude name Chad Greenway...

He does have two flaws, he could do better catching out of the backfield & he does need to work on his pass protection. But, once he has the ball, yes indeed, he seem to have all the tools running.

He loves the counter run. He has always done well with that particular run call.
