Set your VCR

I still remember when my friends grandma recorded over his vhs recording of the Bears 86 super bowl. We are both upset about that to this day.

Same thing happened to me, but it wasnt my Grandma or the Bears. It was the Iowa bball win at North Carolina. My brother was the the guilty party. Unreal

I'll be sure to "tape it".

no, I couldn't type that sentence without smiling and yes I still say "tape it" when I DVR stuff. Yep, I grew up in the 80's.

Man I'm watching the gm but the picture is awful. Is anybody else's like that? Mine is real blurry. This is the first time I have watched this gm. GO HAWKS!

I remember watching this game live and being mad as hell at Fry for waiting until :02 mark to call timeout. My 6 year old mind was convinced that the ball needed to go through the uprights by the time the clock expired in order to be good. Thankfully my father was able to calm me down. Shortly after the whole family went crazy!

wow..... I never get tired of watching that....

Something I'll never forget, which might be hard to believe for those of you younger fans.... it was so quiet when they snapped the ball, that you could actually hear the "THUD" as Houghtlin kicked the ball.

Still the greatest single moment I've experienced at a sporting event.

I had just turned 9 a couple of weeks before and have great memories of watching this with my dad on a small 13" black and white with rabbit ears. Dad worked for John Deere and money was tight those days...

One memory I have as I asked my dad, is how does the visiting team complain about crowd noise and get the refs to ask for the HOME crowd to be quiet!

He turned to me and said, "that is bull****!"

I will never forget it as that is the first time he ever swore in front of me.
(Also one of the reasons I liked that John H got his Super Bowl before Jim H)

Watching this game, and the Big Ten Elite 1985 show, reminds me of him and his love for Iowa as he passed in March of this year. Also one of the reasons I will always love the Hawks, regardless of the ups and downs.
