Set your VCR

Tonight 7 pm central on BTN 1985 #2 Michigan at #1 Iowa! This is not a game to be missed. I hope the btn appreciates the free advertising. They deserve it for not showing the same 2 games for once.

Ok- just as soon as I get done Googling "VCR".

Please tell me that you actually still use a VCR. Please let it be true....

Oh yeah mine is set since I have to work late today. Just wanted to give everyone else a reminder to record the game of the decade.

I haven't used a VCR in nearly a decade. And only then so I could crack out the old Jane Fonda workout tapes. Don't judge me.

Do they even make VCR's anymore?

I will set my DVR to record the game.

Don't laugh, folks, the guy who started the Orlando Iowa Club has kept his VCR copy of the game since the original game-day recording. He won't come clean on whether or not he still USES a VCR.

I'm assuming since the game is from '85, the technology won't interface with a DVR.

I'd suggest taking the OP's advice and dust off the video cassette recorder.

And thanks Hawknick.

I would also think that it would also work with batamax or a dvd recorder. Just get this game recorded with whatever you have!

First of all I have to find a tape that I can tape over

Bad idea. My guestimation is the only remaining two are the wedding and birth videos. While you would probably be forgiven if you had to tape the original game, a rerun of a game from 30 years ago would probably mean a DJK level doghouse.

Read it wrong at first. Thought you wrote "DJK level DRUGhouse". My bad.

I still remember when my friends grandma recorded over his vhs recording of the Bears 86 super bowl. We are both upset about that to this day.

Who knew we'd eventually be able to google and have access, on some basis, to damn near anything we ever watched growing up? Go to BTN On-Demand (if you have cable and can access on-demand). They have "Big Ten Film Vault", which isn't games, but half-hour, end-of-season vignette-type programs that recap the season. In 2000s terms, it's hilarious (the music, the crew-cuts, etc.). But the fact you can see it is, in a way, remarkable.

I won't be home and can't get the little bugger to record when I'm not there. Very frustrated. Will someone tape on cassette for me?
