Serious Questions and Thoughts!

1. When has icing the kicker really ever worked? It seems like they always make the second one, especially if they miss the first.
2. Is Bullock our best back? Seemed like he played the most. Seems to me that Weisman and Daniels are better between the tackles and Canzeri is better outside the tackles, so what gives?
3. If Ferentz doesn't care about this game, why should I?

As I cussed my way out they door and went to a movie right as the ISU kicker made the field goal, I realized that not much about this football team and staff excites me!

1. good question

2. I think GD thinks that Bullock is the right back for his system.

3. I think Ferenz is lost.

I really can't see Bullock being right for any system. He is slow to get going, he doesn't seem to have very good vision and overall is just not productive.

Why does KF always get the free pass and the blame lies on another coach? I do not get it. Everything done and every player playing runs under the over sight of the head coach....EVERY ONE!

KF is a horrible player evaluator. He will pick the no frills, low risk, no reward
, practice guy every time over the guy that gets it done on game day. See Bullock, Hillyer, Vandenburg, Rudock to name a few over CJ, Willies, Powell, Canzeri, Daniels. Never plays the best 22.

Canzeri isn't fully healthy is supposedly why

Canzeri rushed for 18 yards on 3 carries.
He seems to have the best vision of any of our running backs.
Bullock is nice out of the backfield, but is brutal missing the gaps that the OL is making.

When Jake Rudock got hit late by #90 of Iowa State:
- there wasn't one Iowa player that got in #90 face, which I'm somewhat, OK, with, BUT.....
- NOT ONE Iowa teammate helped Jake Rudock get up.
Remember, the sideline commentator after the apparent TD pass (against Ball State) from CJ Beathard, and Jake was not celebrating?

There may some leadership issues and cohesion between the QB and the rest of the offense.

As to icing the kicker, good question. Anecdotally, it doesn't seem to work. But one thing you shouldn't do, is to wait until the very last second to call the timeout so as to allow the kicker the chance to get a free kick at it. It's like a mulligan in golf. Now, the kicker knows what adjustments need to be made. Credit to Netten, he made the proper adjustment and won the game. Why does this seem so obvious to the multitude of fans sitting in the stadium, but is a foreign concept to the one guy who matters?

But Jakes finna be a doctor tho....

I about wanted to punch KF through the radio when I heard him say something about "We" (first of all, it is I, you are the freaking head coach and decision maker) decided we were going to do that, and he also said there isn't any "statistical evidence" if it works or not (or something like that). I'm just thinking to myself, then WHY THE *UCK ARE YOU DOING IT???? Are you saying that you don't know if it works or now, but you just decided to give it a shot about 3 years after it was popular and people STOPPED doing it, because it doesn't seem to work?

WTF kind of coaching is that? If you decided to do it, and it doesn't work, I'm fine with that. But if you tell me, well we don't know if it work, but we just decided what the h@ll lets just give this a shot, that is beyond stupid coaching.

Lots of solid points from everyone, and Bullock is worst back of group does not see field, does not pick up the blitz well. The top 2 backs are Mark and Jordan, and should be getting the carries. Are use of timeouts was again bad!!!!!! As it always is.

This is a coach who started Kyle McCann over Brad Banks. That shoulda scared the hell out of all of you lo those many years ago.
