seasons over lol

It's because we played tight. CJ was off the whole game. It looked like he was hurt from the ISU game. Wadley likewise. Our DT just aren't run-staffers. They do well enough in the pass rush, but aren't nasty enough on run plsys.

The snaps from the center were incorrect, not just the one where CJ fell on it, and the line was just letting guys bull through the middle without touching them in the second half.Losing Daniels at C weakens the O-Line terribly. LeGrand was missing calls all day. I remember one of CJ's sacks, he and the guards had no one lined up in front of them, and they let a blitzing linebacker run right past each other into an empty backfield , like both of them expected someone else to pick it up.

On the long 8 minute Bison drive, Iowa barely subbed anyone in.

This all shows a lack of depth at a couple critical positions, which really falls on recruiting. This staff really needs to do assessment after spring ball and bring in some Juco guys when they are thin at a position. They'll never do it though. KF thinks he can coach up everyone. Which, even if he's mostly correct, is not possible because nobody is perfect.

I'm not really mad - last year I expected 7 - 5 with a bowl loss, and I was pleasantly surprised. This year, my expectations were 10 -2 / 11 -1 because of who Iowa had coming back, and our schedule. However, after this game, I'm back to expecting 7 - 5 and a bowl loss. Which is where the program is really at talent-wise. Last year was a blip, and we will never see anything like it again.

The staff isn't going to change. The team isn't going to take the next step. Iowa football will forever be stuck in 1985.

Nothing is going to change until Kirk retires, and then Barta will probably hire his son and retire himself. They aren't going to do anything to upset their little football cash cow.

There is one way to upset that little cash cow. If the fan base at Iowa really want a change, they will stop supporting this bed wetter and quit going to the games. Until the fans, like they did before last season, make a big enough stink by complaining to the university and not showing up for games, things will be like they were yesterday every year under clueless joe jackson.

It's our ownfaultfor being pollarded about the hype. Last year was an 8-4 team that went 12-0. This years team is an 8-4 team that could win 6-9 games.

This is probably the truest statement I've seen on this board in 2 days

Ditto on the talent. Iowa needs receiving help, badly. Our receivers made some great catches in tight coverage against ISU and CJ put the ball right on the money. Problem is our receivers can't create space and are not anything close to a deep threat. Jeez, if nothing else, recruit some track guys and hope you can teach them how to catch a football.
Defensive line? Same deal. In today's pass happy game, you have to be able to apply pressure. Iowa's front 7 are slow compared to other top tier teams.
Hopefully we will see more of the young, athletic talent in the weeks to come but not counting on it. Every game left is very winnable and it would be a shame to squander this year's schedule. Next year's is not nearly as forgiving.

People were insisting before and after the game NDSU was the real deal and now that Iowa lost to them (barely) the sky is falling. Doesn't make sense..

But regardless, the season is NOT over and people need to chill for real. Stop saying "Fire Kirk" ; "there goes our bowl chances" ; "Stanley should play from now on to prepare fro next year" ; "Doyle is overpaid" etc.....

Life is not over lol
Stop making stuff up. I haven't heard anyone say any of these things.

Maybe but I don't like to decide its a 7-5 season before it is actually a 7-5 season.. I still think this team has a realistic shot at winning each game left on this schedule. Not saying they will or that they don't have a lot to clean up, but its certainly possible and considering its only 3 games into a 12 game season, I'm certainly not ready to 'give up' like a lot of people seem to be on this forum.

Michigan is going to absolutely crush us. We won't be able to stop them. Also, the Nebraska game isn't looking too good either...
