Score prediction

The attitude of Iowa's fans going into this game reminds me so much of 2005. In week 1, Iowa rolled 56-0 over Ball State while ISU broke a third quarter tie to beat Illinois State by double digits. Iowa fans were so overconfident going into that game and we were embarrassed after the Hawks got rolled by a super-motivated ISU team that dominated after Tate went down. I think Iowa will win (24-10 was my prediction above), but I urge Iowa fans to avoid counting their chickens before they hatch.

Yes, because over confident fans always result in upsets or losses. Great, I need to rethink all of this now.

Just don't blow a gasket if ISU wins is all I ask. There will be a complete meltdown if ISU wins so some people are just trying to hedge expectations.

You must have a really low IQ if you say Iowa kept us out of the endzone... I know you want to hold onto that stat, but sadly, you can't. I knew I could count on you for a reply!!!

So you're really that pumped about interacting with a Hawk fan? Now you have something to brag to your friends about.:D

You are aware that we scored a TD last year, right? Yes, I know it was garbage time. Yes, I know you had your 8th string in. But by saying you have a streak of us out of the endzone makes no sense. Edit it to say "versus starters" and I have no problem with it.

and I'd war that td like a featha in yo cap, yes i wood.....

If the game plays out like it should, Iowa should win 31-13 (or somewhere along those lines). UNI had little trouble moving the ball and pretty much shut down the ISU offense until the fourth quarter. Even if ISU does make tremendous leaps, I still don't see making this being a very competitive game. I think we wear them down. The key: Jump on them early. If we get down 7-0 or 10-0 then all bets are off ... We can't let them get any momentum. We need to smack them in the mouth right out of the gate -- just as we did two years ago in Ames. We took the crowd out of the game early and ISU knew it had no chance to win that game ... Get the fast start!!

Other than last year, Iowa hasn't run over, around, & through an ISU team since 1997. Little weight should be put into what we saw last Saturday - both in Iowa City and Ames. ISU will get players back, and look better and more focused.

I mostly fear an early TO (or some kind of mistake) early in the game. If not, we should be fine. But still...this won't be a blow-out. The Hawks simply aren't that good just yet.

Iowa23
ISU 16

ISU 16

last two years combined score 70-10.

but, if you take the players who have left those teams and are now getting paid, it certainly makes you scratch your head and think about that.
