Is there any reason that anyone can share as to why a scheduling formula can't be set up for the B1G, a la the NFL? Let's say the conference opts to go the way of one huge division. Let's say that they choose an 8-game conference schedule. Why can't you have a schedule of dates with matchups TBD? Let's say the champ plays 2nd-9th the next season or however you care to develop a formula. That way you stay as far away as possible from these four-year cycles. I don't need to know who Iowa plays on October 13th, 2025, just that Iowa is playing that day. Or, even if they stay with divisions, come up with a crossover formula for the other division. Six divisional games, and then E1 plays W1 and W2 and so on. Seems easy enough, but assuredly there is a reason why we must know specific opponents on specific dates 5-7 years out.
