Scenarios re: the Glover situation

so, what are the possible scenarios playing out here? This is what I'm thinking...

1. We have a commit in waiting and need to keep all the officials we can to try and get a big.

2. Fran found out something about Glover and doesn't want him now.

That is really the only way I can make sense of cancelling his visit, either we have someone else, or they found some dirt on the kid. Otherwise, why go through all this? We need someone who can at least handle the ball enough to give BC a break.

I strongly doubt #2, but anything's a possibility I guess.

I honestly think there is a commit, who? I dont know. But I dont think Fran would tell Francis to tell Glover "We have another commit and are no longer pursuing you." To let him down easy. I dont think he said that when he cooled his recruiting with Devin Coleman or any others he has cooled on.

With supposedly 3 scholarships available, it strikes me as odd to cancel Glover's visit because of a single commitment. Hopefully we are getting Hubbard and someone else at the PG position so now we need to go all-out on getting a big?

Or like you said, maybe they have dirt on Glover, but I'm hoping that we have a pair of commits coming real soon.

Fran seems way too straight up to lie to the kid. Something like "We're going a different direction" would suffice you'd think.

Another possibility is that the report is simply wrong somewhere along the line. Glover misspoke. Francis misspoke. I have no reason to believe that, but speaking of possibilities, is there any other confirmation of Glover's statement?

At this point we are all just guessing really. We have about 5% of the relevant information, and we are making assumptions and leaps on that little of data. I think that Fran knows what he is doing, plus he has 100% of the information on these kids he is recruiting. He no longer wants Glover on the team, whatever the reason. I trust that Fran knows what he is doing here.

From all accounts, McCaffrey really digs into backgrounds when recruiting kids, so I doubt something came up to scare him off. Glover didn't clear admissions at a few schools, so maybe there was a concern about getting him in, but it seems late in the game for that issue to arise.

I suppose it is possible we got in on a kid who has recently been released from his LOI due to a coaching change, but again, unlikely given the timeline.

My guess is that we got a commit from a juco player with 2 years left vs. the 3 Glover has left (if memory serves) and McCaffrey views this player as a better fit short and long term, given his interest in Gessel for 2012. Second guess is that the mystery commit has been off the board completely and McCaffrey will leave us scratching our heads when the announcement comes.

This is why only idiots join the pay sites. They have no more information than us on the free boards lol.

i've really been trying to think though this all morning, good thing i have the day off!

yeah, fun to speculate. its obvious that they aren't letting the info out! looks like Fran is following in Kirk's footsteps at fort Kinnick. we'll have to call it Fort Carver now!

It's Hubbard and he wants to announce on his brother's birthday.

Fran doesn't need a 6'4" guard in Glover in addition to a 6'5" guard in Hubbard given there are more wings in the system than you'd find at a Hawkeye tailgate (May, McCabe, Gatens, Marble, Oglesby, White, etc.).

So he got a scorer in Hubbard and now he needs to fill the remaining two spots with a point to back up BC and a big. We don't have room for another wing that plays a little point. We've already got one of those in Marble.

makes sense, we'll just have to wait till saturday to find out if that's the case!

That and the fact someone can just tell you what they are talking about. And on the pay sites the mods are saying there is NO commit.

Sure hope it's Hubbard, MJSCK, Love the wings comment. Gave me a chuckle or two. Fran has his reasons which we will probably never know, which is how it should be. Fran seems to be a decent and honorable man.

The scenario I am hopping for:

That this is a pg commit that no one has talked about yet, and that Hubbard commits on saturday. This way at the start of next week hawk fans have two new commits to get excited about!

and how do the mods know that?

They don't know which is really ******* them off. There are enough paying members of the premium sites that post on here, Halo and Hawkeyereport that if someone knew something then it would hit the airwaves. It hasn't and even the premium payers are left to conjecture. Kind of funny if you ask me.

If this works out that we have a silent commit then I think Fran will be a legend overnight. Guys like CAAR aren't going to be able to complain any longer and proclaim 'the sky is falling' either so that will be really nice.

There is still another few weeks left in the Spring signing period but hopefully this issue gets put to rest this weekend.

Just because a few people say there is no commit doesn't mean anything. This staff plays it close to the vest. Very close to the vest.

We will know more later on. Fran usually divulges info on this after papers are signed and recruits have moved on or Iowa has moved on.

That's my hope. Hawstrat came up with it. I'm not sure how he knows the 23rd is Hubbard's bro's b-day but that's we he said.

Let's cross our fingers. (I think)

IDK maybe calling contacts and sources. Why are you asking me? Do I look like I'm a mod? I dont even control my own facebook page.

rhetorical question, nothing personal. with social media these days, i don't think the mods or people running the pay sites have anything over anyone else. so, unless they know the recruits personally or have some close connection, i think they aren't any more reliable than anyone else.
