Say Goodbye: CyHawk Trophy is done

Interesting thought about the Clone series and a comparison to the way we had dominated Minnesota prior to last year. I think we had beaten Minny the two previous years by a combined total of 67-0 prior to last year, then got beat. I think we are now at 70-10 over ISU over the last two years.

I never feel confident in this game until it' over especially at Jack Trice. When the other team has nothing to lose, it can be interesting if they show up.

Is this going to be the CyHawk Series sponsored by Iowa Corn? Just a corporate sponsorship change from Hy-Vee? Or is this a brand new Iowa Corn trophy?

The Iowa Corn Cy-Hawk Series will continue to track the head-to-head match-ups in each sport with each victory earning points toward the overall series championship. The Iowa Corn Cy-Hawk Series will also continue to recognize outstanding academic achievement by the school's student-athletes.

When KCCI spoke to me today, I know they had spoken with the Greater Des Moines Cyclone Club, who commissioned it in the first place, and they were not in favor of it being scrapped...I know they spoke with folks in Ames...I know the Press Citizen has spoken with the creator of the Cy-Hawk trophy.

So we are talking about the physical trophy that goes to the winner of the game.

Hopefully it just means they threw in extra coin to get permission to come up with something different/better. Don't know why they'd just ax it and not replace.

Screw it, let's just make the trophy a brand new John Deere combine and the winner drives it back to their stadium! You could paint a gold stripe right down the middle then make one half black and one half cardinal.

I would love to see them play every 2 to 4 years. I don't want to see it go away, but it would allow Iowa to schedule some different teams.

How bout we just say "it's a piece of sh**, you can have it". ..and give it to the clones.
At least they can say they won something....

Glad they are making a new trophy. The last one looks like something you win for high school or something.

I vote for a big gold Combine (about 2 foot tall) or a big bowl full of ears of corn. The winner can take the ears and throw them at the losing team.

well then we could drive the trophy past either 20 yard line because in case you missed it, that would put us into THE CASE/IH RRRRRRRRREEEEEEEEEEDDDDDDDDD ZONE! and i just don't see green being allowed in red territory

t is a very ugly trophy that looks like a high school project. The trophy was an embarassment to show on National TV.

The new trophy should be a replication of Iowa's Tigerhawk football helmet since the trophy typically resides in Iowa City anyway. A trophy like that would go with the decor of Iowa's trophy case. During those occasions when the trophy goes to the clowns, it goes into a small trophy case with about two other small insignificant trophies. It is no wonder that the clowns want the trophy...they don't have many to show off. THIS trophy is their greatest accomplishment -- beating Iowa.

With Iowa now playing Nebraska, the clown game will get more obscure every year until hopefully, the series just dies out from lack of interest. Lack of interest is already very apparent in many Iowa fans. The BEST thing that could happen is to put this series to rest.
