saw DM Roosevelts Peter Jok play last night

Danny Manning was in town tonight to recruit Pete. As I said, he will NOT be a cyclone. Give it up.

I will stand by my gentlemans bet of a beer that hes a cyclone. However, I know the big boys will come calling and I will explain my thoughts on Monday. He is going to be a heck of a player.

They will not win it in 2012. 2013 they should be a favorite though. As you said, his class at RHS is loaded. I think Ankeny and Waukee will still be too good in '12, and Ankeny will still be there in '13 as they also have a dynamite '13 class. And we are not even talking about teams from the eastern part of the state, or SC for that matter.

I don't think they'll win it either...lack the coaching. My thinking is they should win it despite the coaching if Big Pete is as good as some think he is because there are at least 3 other very good players in his class alone...all playing a lot of minutes as sophomores. Also, 2 of the other sophomores are long and lanky, shoot well from the 3 and defend well. I hope they win it. I've known all 3 of the other guys for years and coached 1 of them in 3 different sports back in the day. They're all good kids.

The comment that Jok is better than Paige...I have no idea. I've only seen Big Pete play. Again my concern is how much will he play at the college level considering his string of injuries. We'll all know how good Paige and Jok are as college players in 6 years...no speculation required.

I have said this since he was in the 5th grade, when I first met the kid. For the record, I never said he would be a Hawkeye either. I do think we have a better shot than ISU. I say this with knowledge of the situation, not because I am an Iowa fan.

I could find out what Pete's thinking but there's no point. He's a sophomore. Things change overnight with kids his age. I know for an absolute fact that Nick Collison was an Iowa lock as a sophomore. He ended up at Kansas and it had nothing to do with Davis and/or Alford.

Roy Williams came and got him. Nick...and his dad/coach...didn't think he was good enough to play at a place like Kansas. Williams said to his dad "I've been doing this a long time...He's good enough." That was it.

My point is Big Pete may think he knows what he wants to do right now but he most likely doesn't really. Very few of us know exactly what we want at 16...even if we think we know. There's a reason to be worried when the big name programs and coaches come calling. They have the tradition and they know how to sign players.

The Paige situation is what I was asking if the shadow knew, and why I would give my thoughts for monday. I'm sure HB sold Paige, now its the question if Peter will be good enough to warrant a NC call. Hawkeyestate4ever, you obviously know Pete well, and I do not. I have been led to believe his family is big ISU fans and that he likes them a lot. Is that not the case? If your telling me Iowa isn't out of the picture thats great news.
