What is the heat like in Iowa I have only been there during the winter to see my family I'm from Tennessee and the heat down here is real bad when the humidity is up. Does the humidtiy get real bad up there

I was watching the SMU/Texas Tech game last last night and they said the SMU coach, June Jones, had the OL and DL take fluids via IV before the game, and again at halftime. They didn't say what the temp was, but since I'm really good at deductive reasoning... I'm guessing it was hot. I haven't heard that mentioned, but it sounds like a great ideal

Looks like the temp may not be so terrible, so may not be an issue.

yes.

I live in Atlanta so I'm guessing our weather is fairly close to yours. Does it get as hot in Iowa as it does down here? Yes, at least... and sometimes hotter. Does it get humid? Yes, but normally not as humid as it gets down here in the South. Don't let that fool you, though. It gets HOT!

From your 24-hour doppler 5000 weather eye alert severe storm apocalypse center, here is today's forecast for Iowa City:

Mostly sunny, with a high near 87. Northeast wind 5 to 10 mph.

Looks like the players and fans are catching a break. There is a stubborn area of clouds hanging over east-central Iowa and it may only partially break up this afternoon. The high temp in Iowa City has been lowered to the mid 80s. That's a heck of a lot better than sunny and mid 90s.

Partly sunny, with a high near 84. Northeast wind around 5 mph.

Geez all this fuss about nothing! Still a warm day, but I'm glad the forecasted temperature has started coming down for those of you in attendance today!

Let's Go Hawks!

It was real hot...but it wasn't death valley. I'm over 50 and had no problem. I did see a few people struggling, but they all had one thing in common. They were all frickin' HUGE.

It was hot...but the panic was overblown. No doubt by the same people who stay home from work or drive 15 mph when it snows an inch or two.

A larger man a row in front of me fell over puking. Not sure if heat or too much booze and heat. Moran.

Don't put that sunscreen away just yet. The current forecast has a high of 95 for Iowa City this Saturday.

I hope they are lying.

While the temp wasn't as high as it could have been, it was pretty damn hot in Kinnick. I sit down low on the south side. Early on the sweat was rolling down my back in to my pants. I paid a lot of money for full cups of ice. My husband woke up not feeling well and after the first 10 minutes of the game, and had to sit up in the concourse area. Thankfully the second half of the game, there was a large cloud blocking the sun and I was able to cool down. It also affected the crowd and was very tiring by the end.

I hope it's not that hot this weekend.
