Same situation in future should hawks kick a field goal or go on 4th and 3 close to the goalline

When it was 21-3 late in the 3rd or early 4th qtr and a good drive was down to 4th and 3 or 4 from about the 6 yard line Kirk decided to go for it.

My immediate thought was a high percentage field goal conversion puts the hawks at 21-6 which is basically down 2 scores. Where as a much lower percentage 4th down conversion and a potential TD would have put the score at 21-10 which is still down by 2 scores.

I was hoping for the FGoal and then pray for a turnover or something and MAYBE a TD to get the score to 21-17. Your thoughts on this for a future situations?

It worked against Nebraska to kick FG's to catch up. It would not have made a difference against Michigan.

Down 21-6 is two scores but you need a 2 point conversion which is the same as a 4th down and 3 so you would have to make that 4th and 3 either way. Just play to win and go down fighting or it is a win for the Michigan "D" in that spot holding to a FG.
