Former Iowa QB Ryan Driscoll has passed away.
He was found unconscious on or near a treadmill by his wife.
Very sad.

Heard about this last night as I was leaving Carver. Awful for his poor wife finding him. He also has two daughters. Unbelievably sad.

I used to purchase every pre-season publication I could get my hands on in the 90s.
IIRC RD was a Top 50 midwest recruit (along with Dwight and Banks in that time frame if not in the same class) and had several offers. I believe Sherman won the starters job and RD remained a loyal backup his entire career. A class act and true Hawkeye. He will be missed.

Oh no. Obviously he was a guy who was still taking care of himself. Too bad and too young. Feeling for his family.

Crazy. Reminder to treat people right, cuz any day could be your last. I don't remember hearing about it at the time, but I've heard he hurt his shoulder and was never the same after that. I definitely remember him being a big time recruit.

Sad day. Very respected Hawkeye. Thoughts and prayers to Ryan’s family. He will be sorely missed.

I wonder if he could have had an over enlarged heart and not even known about it?

I have that condition, although mine is benign...allegedly. As far as the cardiologist can tell. It's a little alarming.

My heart does wacky shit on occasion, and even though I'm used to it, in the back of my mind, I'm like...goddamn, this might be it. The sword of Damocles is coming down.

I should probably cut back on the caffeine and ingest more cannabis.

Condolences to the Driscolls. What a shitty thing, especially this time of year.

I met him a few times at tailgates through mutual friends. He was a really nice guy. This is a bummer.

I think he may have broken his collar bone during the 1994 season. As someone who has done that, you have to be very careful and let it heal properly. I didn't and whether its throwing a football, baseball, swinging a golf club, etc it's never been the same since.

Sorry to hear, I remember hearing about him when I was just a kid. Scary stuff, I'm not in the best of shape but I try to get on the treadmill and run 2-3 miles a few times per week. Just have to make the most of every opportunity
