Ryan Boyle moves back to QB

Plus Boyle (from what I've seen) has kind of a gunslinger attitude and a little big of swagger, which I like in a QB.

Yeah, and when Derby did actually change, he went to the NFL. Hopefully he sees the writing on the wall and makes the move soon or it might be too late.

I'd be a be shocked if he ever takes a meaningful snap at Iowa.

Right. Just like he 'requested' to be switched to WR.
At a tailgate last fall I remember some people talking about Boyle. They said he was moved from QB because the coaches wanted him to be one of the decoy's calling fake plays. They said Boyle thought he was better than that and refused and that is why he moved to receiver. Who knows if this is true, but makes for fun tailgate talk.

A one year and done doesn't lend itself to a conviction on Boyle's part to be a WR.

Who knows how much say Boyle had in re-becoming a QB? One can look at KF's style of coaching and conclude not much. If this move to QB is against the wishes of the coaching staff, I see, at least, a doghouse in Boyle's future.

It could be a sign that the coaches are sending a signal the QB position is wide open. Everybody will be given an equal chance to compete and win the QB job.

If true, I would still put my money on Stanley winning it.

I am curious, mainly because I don't know much about any of the QB's, except that Stanley was the backup in 2016.

But I am curious what skills or traits does Stanley have that made him the backup in 2016 and makes him the favorite to start in 2017?

The only logical reason I can come up with for the move back to QB is that the coaches told him he would be buried deep in the depth chart at receiver. This is NOT to say that there isn't another reason...I just cannot imagine what it would be. Frankly, I would guess his chances at QB won't turn out to be much better. Hope for the best for him...great kid.

He is 6'5 I believe he is the biggest of group, don't quote me on it. Natural passer as compared to the other guys they have on campus, probably has the most grasp of fundamentals and footwork than anyone else. It makes him the leader in the clubhouse, it doesn't make him the starter come September.

He was a runner in HS... maybe new offensive scheme wants a running / Wildcat QB in Red Zone situations ??
NDSU QB's ran a lot .... just a thought... actually thought he would be a good candidate for kick-off return

Hmmmmm where did I see this info before? ;)

1. Boyle isn't going anywhere
2. This move wasn't his choice
3. BF wants to have options in the red zone
