Rutgers ??

Various reports/opinions that range from players "needing" to commit to secure a place while not having all available offers/options on the table yet, Rutgers pulling offers to guys who want to continue taking visits, among others.

Posted the story below in another thread but it explains part of what's going on. At least one of the top NJ high school coaches blames the accelerated recruiting process dictated, in part, by changed NCAA rules that encourages players to make commitments even before they take their official visits. When some of them have strong senior years they get wooed by more prestigious programs and thus de-commit from the Scarlet Knights.

I also would chalk it up to Greg Schiano's departure two years ago. During 10 years at Rutgers, Schiano took a perennial loser and Big East doormat to one of its upper tier programs, appearing in bowls and generating enthusiasm in a state of more than 8 million people, including more than a handful of top football recruits. Rutgers is, or was, on the radar of high school players two and three years ago, some of whom committed early. Kyle Flood hasn't been able to maintain that success; this year he is 5-4 but likely to go 0-3 the rest of the way starting with Thursday night's game at UCF.

Koo, thanks for the link. I did a little research before the post, but assumed that a dramatic incident had caused all the recent decommits...but i guess that's not the case, peeps just finding out Rutgers is not really a fball school.

They've realized the school is in jersey

This.

While you can make a "this place stinks" argument for almost anywhere in the country... the Pacific Northwest's rain is depressing, the South is full of goobers, the upper Midwest is too cold etc etc.

I've not been anywhere where the people and the culture was more unappealing... than New Jersey. No thanks

Man their recruits are dropping like flies. It makes you wonder what else is going on behind the scenes

Abusive coaches on the payroll despite last years basketball scandal. Female Athletic Director with history of abuse at previous school. Losing programs, unhappy student athletes....messy.

Can somebody remind why we invited these guys into the conference?
Something about eyeballs on TVs and money. I would prefer to stay at 12, but if we had to get to 14, I wish would could have gotten someone better than Rutgers.
