I tend to agree. While I dont like seeing any of the big time in state talent leaving, I prefer that they go play at a place like UNC or Kansas as opposed to going to another B1G school.

If they can play, they can get to the NBA no matter where they go or who coaches them. If Paige is good enough to get into the NBA he would get there just as quickly under Fran or Fred as he would Ol' Roy. The sooner both Iowa and ISU get back to dominance the sooner in-state kids can get locked down by in-state schools.

Since the days of al Lorenzen, BB in IOWA hs has come along way. 2 of the nations top players have come from Iowa. It's got to the point that Iowa could build a team on primarily Iowa BB players. If Iowa BB had been solid, we could have likely gotten these players that left for 'greener pastures'. I look for Fran and Hoiberg to lock down the borders.

Well that pipeline is now cut off. Paige wouldnt be going to UNC either had Mccaffery been here 3 years ago
Yes he would have, NC is his dream school and he didn't have that much interest in Iowa anyway

I got criticized for posting this before, but I will try again. Is there an anti Hawkeye bias at Linn-Mar. It seems that a lot of kids from that school go to other schools. I can only think of two LInn-Mar kids at Iowa.

You're wrong. Ive talked to his parents many times. Todd Lickliter was at Iowa, of course he didnt have interest in Iowa. Paige was snooping around Iowa as late as last fall when Woodbury and Gesell committed, ultimately he stuck with UNC as it was late in the game, but there was absolute interest.
What did Iowa have to offer the last 7 years or so? Alford and Lick?

Here's hoping that Coach McCaffery and the Hawkeyes make Paige come to eventually regret his decision.
Watched Marcus in the McDonalds game last nite. He is clearly a very slick passer,and a good shooter. Threw one alley-oop that was very pretty. Went behind the back a couple of times with mixed results. IU fans were mad that Yogi Ferrell did not start at pg ahead of him. Ferrell is a bit quicker than Marcus, but smaller, but he will be a good one for IU...think Isaiah Thomas-lite.
During the game they were speculating about who will be left at UNC for Marcus to pass to...he was the only MaDonalds committed to UNC....Barnes,Henson,Zeller will be gone...maybe Marshall? MacAdoo and Hairston will probably be there...so he will have some good players,but if Marshall returns,will he even play that much? Hard to see him beating out Marshall who set the alltime ACC single season assists record this past year. By the time Marcus is starting, he might not have MacAdoo and Hairston to pass to...hmmm.
