Rough tough game with some high helmet hits

That was a tough, hard hitting game that the hawks did not back down a bit. Narduzzi is a good coach but he also brought some of the MSU thuggery. I thought there were a few Pitt tacklers who had the crowns of their helmets making helmet to helmet contact, dangerous when you see it more than once.

After the review on Canzeri's 2nd TD Narduzzi (or as my son texted to me 'Nar-******-i') was mad and arguing with the official.

Hard game to get a running game going.

Hats off to the hawks and the coaches. The receivers did well and good to see the TEs get more action.

I said halfway through the game, "feels like we're playing Michigan St."

Lots of ice packs/buckets tonight and tomorrow.

I counted at least 3 helmet to helmet hits, 2 on Beathard, and 1 on Vandeburg that knocked him woozy. Throw in the missed pass interference on Pitt, I was beginning to suspect the ACC reps objectiviy at half time, but it seemed better in the 2nd half.

They really didn't bother me too much, but it sure seemed like Pitt got away with quite a bit of holding.

Im surprised there weren't bunch of Pitt "injuries" in the latter stages of that fourth quarter.

The holds on offense were bad and their secondary seemed to use the MSU/Seattle method of mugging guys and expecting the refs not to call it the majority of the time. Kudos to him for exploiting the loophole.

The one on Blythe during the penultimate drive was absurd.

Blythe's pancake block pushing that Dee lineman back over another player was a great block.

It reminded me of 2009 in the Northwestern game when Wegher went about 60 yards for what would have been a game winning TD only to have the center called for holding because his block was so good it looked like he took the guy down.

My ulcer just flared up. Ugh.

Let's not. There goes my blood pressure again.

Holy crap they played....dirty? Lots of shots or elbows thrown in the vicinity of cjbs head...good lord in heaven! But I have to say..we sure responded like hulk hogan after he feels the power of all the hulkamaniacs....lol....finger wagging at pitt def...followed by a gutsy drive with under a minute...followed by a body slam of a scramble by cjb.....and ending with a leg drop of a 57 yd game winning fg! 123! Hawks rule!

This for sure!

I thought the hit on CJB where the fumble was called back was downright dirty. It was classic crown of the helmet to the jaw!! There was no question. Neither of the announcers even made a big deal out of it. I was ******, but didn't want to tell and wake up my 2 year old.

When they reviewed (and subsequently reversed) the alleged CJ fumble, I just ASSUMED they'd call for a helmet-to-helmet hit on the play. I guess it's cool the review overturned the fumble, but it would have been nice for someone to call down and tell the officials to look for two clues to a possible helmet-to-helmet:

--The QBs head snapping back with the tackler's head lodged against his chin
--The sound of engineered plasticene smacking against a similar object

I don't remember a rash of "injuries" from the Pitt D, so that's a positive, I guess.

You've redeemed yourself quite well from my earlier chastisement in the "Pitt v. Iowa legends thread".

Excellent post, except CJ could beat the crap out of Hogan :)

I usually don't complain about the refs much but those ACC guys last night were weak. The worst call was the "no call" mugging of the Hawk receiver when the Pitt safety ran in to him well ahead of the ball arriving. The holding call on Blythe was also ridiculous.
