Assuming that DeShuan Thomas of the Buckeyes leaves early for the NBA following this year, every team currently in the top 8 of the Big 10 standings will lose at least one starter next year except Iowa.

Here’s the Roster loss breakdown for the top 8 teams next year:

Indiana: Lose 4 starters
Tyler Zeller (leaves early for NBA), Victor Oladipo (leaves early), Christian Watford, Jordan Hulls

Michigan State: Lose 1 starter
Derrick Nix

Michigan: Lose 1 starter
Trey Burke (leaves early)

Wisconsin: Lose 3 starters
Jarred Berggren, Mike Bruesewitz, Ryan Evans

Ohio State: Lose 1 starter
DeShaun Thomas (leaves early)

Illinois: Lose 3 starters
Brandon Paul, DJ Richardson, Tyler Griffey

Minnesota: Lose 2 starters
Trevor Mbakwe
Rodney Williams

Iowa: Lose no starters

Iowa will be the only team to return all their starters. MSU only loses Nix and will probably be a preseason Top 10 team. Michigan and OSU will also have some pretty good firepower returning. Depending on how the Hawks finish out this year, I think most of next year’s preseason magazines will peg the Hawks finishing in the top 4 of the Big 10 and ranked somewhere in the #15-25 range overall in the country.

Doubt that. Maybe just outside the top 25.

Obviously that's the bare minimum that are leaving each team. Indiana, for example already has six recruits coming in next year so Crean is going to have to lose a couple more players. There are rumors about several Michigan players, etc. Some years you can have the situation where the good news is all the players are back and the bad news is all the players are back. In our case, I think it will be a real benefit having so many starters and productive bench players returning. The only way it may hurt us is if some players get disillusioned by their playing time.

I think Hardaway Jr is gone for sure and maybe Glenn Robinson III, I also think both guys won't do anything in the NBA.

You are probably right. At the same time MI, IU, have killer classes coming in. OH ST & Illy can
begin to reload. Purdue and MI ST really lose not much.

At the same time... given the Hawkeye's performance this year and everyone coming back and the addition of Jok and Uthoff I'll be shocked... totally shocked if the Hawkeyes don't finish in the top 4 in the Big Ten. Along with that a great run or 2 in post season tournaments including a Sweet Sixteen

Payne of Michigan State is another possibility. I do think Payne would get drafted. Nix will not.

Its nice to have somthin to look forward to. Cough pay attention kirk cough. With decent to good shooting Hawks are gonna be in the mix.

Now your'e talking, Aaron......

I don't believe Iowa will hardly get sniff for the top 30 let alone the top 10... As stated above, many of those teams will be reloading, but teams like Purdue & Illnoy have young teams that have proven at times they can be as tough as Iowa. Iowa will have to prove they're worthy before people start giving them serious consideration.

Giving freshmen a lot of minutes will pay off next season. It will be interesting to see how far they come to finish this season and into next season.

Can we skip football this year?

Iowa will be outside looking in next year...Too many teams in the B1G reloading at a pace where Iowa is close but still a ways away....Let's take care of what we need to this year, get the coveted recruits into an Iowa jersey next year and see how it goes.
