Roster losses next year for the top 8 in the Big 10 this year

Iowa will be outside looking in next year...Too many teams in the B1G reloading at a pace where Iowa is close but still a ways away....Let's take care of what we need to this year, get the coveted recruits into an Iowa jersey next year and see how it goes.
As much as I like the Kool-Aide, this statement is probably accurate. Iowa got a good class with Woody, MG, Sapp, Ingram, and Meyers. But until Iowa gets consistent in their results, it will be a while before the 4 star recruits seriously consider Iowa on a regular basis. Do I believe we can get there? Absolutely!! The Kool-Aide still tastes good!!

So .. take care of business this year. Finish 4-1 and win 2 in the B1G tourney. Make it tough for the selection committee to keep us out. That will be a GREAT start. THEN worry about next year and getting good recruits.

GO HAWKS!!!

Giving freshmen a lot of minutes will pay off next season. It will be interesting to see how far they come to finish this season and into next season.

Can we skip football this year?[/QUOTE]

I'll meet you right here on Halloween. Iowa football is going to be much better this year. Book it.

I think a lot depends on how quickly Jok can make the transition to the college game and if he is really completely healed from his injuries. If he turns out to be anywhere close to as talented as everyone said he was before the injuries Iowa may have gotten a steal.

We also do not know just how good Uthoff is going to be, he has never stepped foot on the court.

But just taking what we know about the team Iowa has right now they should take another big step next season. Again all these minutes the freshman are getting will pay off next season. Yes other teams will be reloading but they will be reloading with freshman, which is the position Iowa was in this season.

If Iowa finishes the year strong, even if they do not make the NCAA most "experts" see Iowa as a team on the rise and it would not surprise me to see some strong predictions for next season. A preseason Top 25 seems unlikely but I would not be surprised to see Iowa get a few preseason votes. I do not expect Iowa to be competing for the B1G title next year but I would be disappointed with anything less than a top 5 finish and a NCAA tournament bid.

If I hear you right you are suggesting that if Iowa finishes 4-1 and 21-10 and win 2 more games in the Big Ten Tourney and complete everything at 23-11, that it will be tough to keep the Hawkeyes out of the NCAA's? Why not just say unless Iowa wins out.. they are in, no other way.

I truely believe after watching hundreds of BB games this year, considering close losses and close wins, competitiveness and improvement, along with the BPI, Ken-Pom, the Vegas Blog, Sagarin and RPI... Iowa should be and is a LOCK for the Tournament TODAY.

Screw the November losses and weak schedule. The point of playing any sport is to play and improve every game leading up to the "post season". Why is this so lost on posters, fans, pundits and the Committee?

Sheesh... Any thoughts?

You are wrong in your assumptions. The problem is RPI. Besides they need to finish.
