Pretty good shot he'd be the starting LG next to Scherff then I'd say if he'd have been a Hawk. Or would Iowa have redshirted him to learn behind Scherff and be the heir apparent at LT as a RS Freshman? I lean towards him starting at LG. Ferentz will play the best over all 5 guys and I'd say he's probably better then Welsh based on just the fact that as a true Frosh he's #2 at Bama. I know this is all ifs and buts and maybe even a sore subject to some. Just a topic of conversation.

I'm sorry, but who is this?

Seriously? You must have missed the 2 month meltdown he caused for all of us who follow recruiting. Followed by a year's worth of ******** and speculation and we can't recruit/ lock up an instate lineman etc. Etc. Etc. Etc

Maybe next year's new 5 star LG freshman can leapfrog him and he will transfer back to Iowa ( oh, there, I said it)

Growing up as a Hawkeye fan, I could live with being a Hawkeye and never seeing much playing time, but could I live with decommitting from Iowa and not playing at another school a long way from home? I think I would have a lifetime of regret. Obviously 17 year old kids dont think that way though.

Guess my point is I hope for his sake he becomes a 2 or 3 year starter at Alabama.

Ross Pierschbacher who de-committed from Iowa after the loss against Northern Illinois.

More than likely he would have red shirted.

I feel like Charlie Brown when he thanked Violet for the Christmas card, and she told him she didn't send him a Christmas card.

I imagine he must be pretty good. For him to be in the 2 deeps as a true freshman at Bama is saying something. I assume he's not going to RS and will more then likely play some this year. I know Bama had a heck of a recruiting class this year with a bunch of other lineman too. He very well be the one that got away. That said I'm fired up about the group Iowa has coming in next year too. Those Moville twins are the real deal. Hope losing Ross to Bama don't absolutely hurt us but it's safe to say Iowa would have loved to have him.

I hope he rides the bench down there. That would serve him right for his conduct. I know some people were wanting him to suffer a career ending injury but I won't go that far.

I admit I thought he could get lost in the shuffle down there, especially as a frosh, but he clearly was worthy of the hype at this point anyway. Bama had some returning guys, and a bunch of highly rated frosh coming in with RP. Do not wish him ill, but hope he ends up regretting it...sorry, sour grapes, but it is how I feel.

I think it's more impressive that his former HS teammate, Ike Boettger (RS Freshman), who came to Iowa as a TE is the 2nd team Left Tackle. The kid never played the O-Line in high school. Maybe the media should discuss that compared to preaching about a high school Left Tackle like Ross P. who is a 2nd team Left Guard at 'Bama.

When a man commits to something he simply should not go back on his word. I don't think highly of him for that reason, and I hope people like that fail.

Exactly a guy like Ike Boettger has more integrity in his pinky toe that RP does in his entire body. Guys like Ike Boettger are worthy of our attention.

Has a true freshman ever started on the o line??

I would bet a pretty good amount that he wouldn't have started this year.

That's credit to how Ferentz develops the line.

Im sure Ross could have been great but not a starter as a true fresh.

This is one of the funnier things I've read on here. So when you have a son and he flips on his decision to attend a school, you will hope he fails? These guys are committing during high school.

I am not going to except excuses from him. I would welcome back if he comes back and apologizes to for his mistake. He can still play 3 years after this one where he belongs.

A true freshman lineman playing? That would be disparate. An 18 year old needs a year or two to be ready for the big time. Better hope number one doesn't go down.
