Rittenberg Picks the Hawks/Bennett Likes MSU

Bennett is an idiot. Michigan St. doesn't have a chance in this game, on the road against a hot team. I am sick of the crap we keep getting from the national media, and the lack of respect from ESPN in particular. You can tell this loser is just mad he's not asked to cover Alabama or Tebow, so he's just pulling names out of his stupid butt. My grandma prolly knows moar about football that this jagbag.

You really think that Iowa is so good that anyone who would pick MSU in this game does so because of a bias or complete ignorance? I don't know what season you are watching but its not the one Im watching.

I don't really understand where this is coming from. We have been getting a lot of media love this week, maybe more than we should since we haven't beat anyone good yet. I don't think Bennett picking the favorite to win is outrageous. That being said, him picking both ISU and Minnesota was a little much. I think he basically doesn't have any idea what will happen so he just picked the favorite in a low scoring game and said there would be a lot of defense. I like when he picks against Iowa. And I share Rittenberg's opinion that we will be able to wear them down.

Actually, this is PERFECT news. Bennett keeps picking against us and we keep winning. It's almost like Gameday, when coach Lee Corso picks against your team ... everyone cheers louder!

IMHO Rittenberg is more plugged in than Bennett

So what is it about this, that makes him an idiot? Seems like a reasonable assessment. It might be right and it might be dead wrong.

Brian Bennett: I've picked against the Hawkeyes three times already and have been wrong twice. (It's nothing personal, Iowa fans, I swear). I really should learn from my mistakes. But I think Michigan State's defense can slow down Mark Weisman and generally make life miserable for Jake Rudock on Saturday. I have little confidence in the Spartans' offense, but a bye week should have given Dave Warner and Jim Bollman a chance to come up with a couple of plays that work. That may be all it takes in a game like this, which is decided on field goals.… Michigan State 13, Iowa 10.

What makes him wrong is this "I think Michigan State's defense can slow down Mark Weisman" They could not last year when it counted. No one has this year either. Let's see him try to tackle Mark Weisman. Iowa has something, MSU does not. He thinks they can magically come up with something just because they have two weeks to think about it, wrong.

So let me get this straight, MSU didn't stop Weisman last year so their improved defense which is currently top 5 in run defense right now doesn't have a chance?

Iowa has something, MSU does not. What does that mean? MSU has the best defense in the B1G, that is something. Their offense isn't good (actually horrible) but you can't discount their defense this season based off last season.

Iowa's offense is better.

Obviously, Iowa's offense is better than MSU's offense. But is Iowa's offense good enough to score on MSU's defense? Sure one could argue that MSU really hasn't played anyone good but either has Iowa.

This game is a coin flip, anyone who disagrees I'm sorry is just being a homer for the sake of being a homer. Iowa hasn't proved anything, sure MSU hasn't either but confidence should come from proof on both sides.

Their defense is not any better than last year, you idiot. They were Top 8 in rushing last year as well, #4 in total, and #9 in scoring. They are one of 4 teams in the country (Alabama, Florida State, LSU, Florida) to have 2 straight years in the top 10 of each category. They are not any better than they've been the last 2 years.

I honestly don't believe MSU to be very good this year. It will take a very off game from the Hawks (i.e. a dramatic fall off in our growth curve to this point) to imagine an MSU W in Kinnick.
