RIP Keith Jackson

I’m getting old all the great play-by-play guys I grew up with radio and television are dead or really, really old. A lost art of just calling a game without the need to drop pop culture references to show how hip you are....... how in touch you are. Keith Jackson could connect with an audience simply by calling the game.

Before anyone labels me “get off my lawn guy” I know it is a different world now and everyone needs to be “entertained” and I get that. When icons like KJ pass away I get a little nostalgic that’s all.:)

A brief, nice story from WSU, where he went to school. I can’t say he was my favorite, or the best, it’s difficult to measure. But for sure his passing is just another step away from college football’s golden age, in my opinion.

Try to name somebody who is currently doing play by play that is better than KJ. I can't. (somebody will suggest Beth M...wait for it)

Keith, talking about the pressure on Illinois' defense on the upcoming drive, after their offense finally scored to make it 28-7:

"If Iowa gets a touchdown here, sell the barn, mama, we're moving to the city!"

Classic.

The guy was gifted. Honest, relatable, really new the teams he was calling the game for. The gold f'n standard.
