Rhoads is oversignimg

Attrition during the last few McCarney years coupled with the 2 coaching changes left ISU's roster pretty depleted until the 2011 and 2012 classes came aboard. When Chizik was at ISU, the Clones had just over 70 scholarship players on the roster. They've had the room under the rule of the 85 scholarship players to sign over 25, just trying to catch up to the 85 man roster limitiation.

McCarney would also bring in a decent amount of JUCOs each year, and Chizik signed 11 with his 07 class. JUCOs increase your signing load over time as they have to be replaced in 2 years instead of 4.

I didn't follow recruiting before 2006, but I know that since then ISU has never left signing day with more than 85 scholarships and had to trim the fat like some SEC schools that end up with 90 or more in February and have to eliminate 5-10 by August to get within compliance. Now that is over signing, and covering your bases for whats yet to come down the tracks with injuries, poor grades, etc in the off season.
