Rhoads had some interesting things to say about Iowa's O-Line

They had two weeks to prepare, and let's be honest, they had much of fall came to prepare because they obviously didn't spend extra time on UNI.

They are going to struggle a great deal this year.

Paul is a good person, and I think a great fit there at Iowa State. It will be interesting to see just how patient the most patient fanbase in America will be after a 2-10 season at best. Most will be, some will grumble but not as many as there will be supporters would be my bet. Now if they stunk again next year, then it begins.

So what is our excuse for sucking against Northern Illinois and Missouri State after having all camp to scout them?

What is this supposed to mean? Iowa had nearly 500 yards of total offense against NIU and 400+ against Mo State.

Are you referring to Iowa stopping those offenses? Defense to date hasn't allowed any opponent to run with success. Defending the passing game is another matter.

if you were paying attention v. isu, he got all over the offense during a time out. we were deep, had to call a time out for some reason, and during the TO, it showed a sideline shot. man, he was chewing something, and it wasn't his gum he quit chewing........all over several folks in the sideline huddle. this thing about no emotion/passion is absurd.
I didn't catch him getting emotional on the sidelines during the game, but that's good. I've seen from time to time. But I've also seen complete meltdowns where he just scribbled on his little notepad, and chomped on his gum. He is normally pretty low key, and his teams often reflect that. I don't think that's debatable. I'm like it when he gets fired up. We won't ever see him jump up and down like a fool like other coaches either, and that's a good thing.

Iowa is 36th in the country in yards per pass attempt allowed, which is the best measure of passing efficiency. Obviously there are some issues with our pass defense, but its hardly terrible.

Iowa outgained MSU 489 to 197. The only people who think we "sucked" in that game don't know what they're talking about.

Most patient fan base in America = fan base most used to losing.
Give them 4 or five top 8 finishes in the country, some conference titles, Rose Bowls/Orange Bowls, etc. and you would not see their fan base patient either. They really know nothing more than losing. Losing seasons are the norm.

Ferentz was lighting up the receivers for about 10 seconds, then he left the huddle for a few seconds, then he came back and got his moneys worth again. I thought his head was going to explode. Thats as ****** as Ive seen him.

Same thing happened to Fiedorowicz from Brian Ferentz after he dropped that first down on the first possession of the second half.

Same thing happened to Hillyer after his drop on the first drive. Martin Manley was letting him have it.

Did anyone notice in the second quarter when Iowa came out in the wrong set on offense. Iowa called a timeout, and the offense came over to the sidelines, Kirk was there doing his best Fran rant, complete with finger pointing, walking away, and coming back for some more, walking away, and then giving it to the players again.

I hadn't seen that in a while from him, but he was PIZZED off. I also think it worked.

This is the thing that cracks me up when people talk about KF being to calm and boring. It's called being professional. In front of a camera, mic, reporters, public engagement, KF is calm and collective.

Those that have seen him in meetings behind closed doors, during practice, or in the case above KF can bring the fire that is needed on occasion to get his point across.

The public never sees this side of KF and that is done so by design.

There you go again...making sense. Geez, give it up on this site...

It's all lost on me. I'm being serious here. Hard enough to recognize formations and personnel, but when you get into formations for certain formations and what they do after snap of the ball . . I'm interested but I really don't know that much about it other than how far the play went.

On Iowa's final touchdown drive, they were in a 2 TE, 2 fullback set for 13 or 14 of the 15 plays of that possession.

How many of you saw Rhoads in the first half last Saturday jump right at the side judge and point at the sideline where the ball should be marked.

I am not sure if I have seen many D1 college head coaches bend over and point his finger a few inches above the ground and look at the official like 'spot it here'!!!

I have thought some of his sideline antics were a little Little Leagueish but this pointing thing looked really weird and almost childish. Some coaches might walk over by the official and give him some verbal help but not show them up and point at the ground for a spot.

Give him a break. He's about to go 0-12.

Good God you are dumb!

I'm sure you have 20 National Championships in NCAA football and you were probably block champion in Tecmo Bowl back in the day....but real world football is just SLIGHTLY different and more complex. You claim nothing is easier than stopping an offense on 12 staight rushing plays. Really? So you know whether they're going right or left? You know whether they are going weakside or strongside? You know whether they're going inside zone or outside zone? You know when they're going to pull the guard or tackle and from which side? You know whether they're going to follow the lead fullback or run counter away from the lead and use the fullback as backside kickout? You know whether we're going to go straight zone or man? You know if we're going to run motion with one of the tight ends?

It's amazing you're only posting on a message board and not making a living as a Defensive Coordinator....you've apparently got it all figured out!

Or not.

Most rude post of the year candidate.

You might be right. Next week and Kansas at home are probably their best bets right now. The parking lots around Jack 3x will be empty come November.

I don't take any delight in saying he's gonna go 0-12 this year. I like the guy and was hoping he'd have success there. I know most hawk don't ever want that for Isu.

So do you dislike Fran's antics on the sidelines as well?

Please explain "antics" the chair thing was not even intentional...people make a deal of it because the stupid thing folded up after he did what he did. It isn't like he folded it up and slammed it on the floor.

Fran gets animated, but it isn't like he is up and down the sideline acting like a lunatic...the only time he remotely looked like that was at UNI and I don't see how he made it through the first 10 minutes of that game without getting tossed.

Class way he conducts himself? Okay, maybe in press conferences, but the guy jumps up and down like an idiot on the sidelines, and when his team pulls an upset, he acts like they just won the greatest championship ever created. It's not very classy.

Not a big fan of Fran?

Very serious, Fran gets upset when he needs too, it isn't like he is crying and whining to officials the whole time like some coaches do. He gets upset with his team more often than officials now and again, the chair thing was the most overblown thing I have seen in a long time.

Brew Mcnugget, how many times did he just hulk Hogan leg drop the scores table? #damnneareveryhomegame

Pollard has sold 40,000 season tickets and Cyclones.tv is raking in money hand over fist. They have money to get rid of an non-performing coach and hire on a top coach to get to the next level.

This isn't your father's Cyclones. They are building something great. Revenue is up. The alumni base is stoked. Enrollment is at all time highs. Facilities are top notch. The south endzone is being rounded out. The sound system is second to none. They're nobody's doormat anymore.

Try to say that with a straight face.
