Rhabdo at Nebby

Fluid levels. I have a kid with a bleeding disorder that would be more susceptible. it's just hard to figure. Wonder if having 13 get it is harder to explain.
That's all I was saying. It's hard to pinpoint the reason and the level of workout doesn't always explain why. I'm 46 and I could have made it through that workout. Sometimes you just can't explain it.

The stretches are what release the harmful fluids from the muscle fibers.

No, muscle damage is what results in the muscle-contents entering the extra-cellular fluid. Lengthening (i.e. eccentric) contractions are usually the culprit in causing the damage, but that is not the same thing a "stretching," which typically involves passive lengthening.

Not hard to explain, there were clear mistakes made in over-prescription of intensity for the volume of exercise being performed. Was it an oversight? Was it intended to cause pain and send a message? Hard to know for sure.

If it was the latter, the coaches certainly wouldn't be the first or last to try to send a message through prescription of extreme physical exertion. While the practice still occurs and arguably can play an important role in mental-toughness training, it can run counter to physical development and is generally pretty rare anymore.

On a thread about Nebby rhabdo and the second coming of Scott:

who know who has to bring up Iowa.
From 7 years ago.
Four times.

And counting.

Why would it be rare anymore?

Why would it be rare anymore?

Because much more is known about the physical preparation process, including the setbacks that can be experienced due to excessive prescription. There is still value to mental toughness training, but at what cost? The balance on that one has shifted quite a bit in the last few decades.

Thought you were referring to coaches using punishment as a motivation.

If you are talking about the exorcise associated with the Iowa football rhabdo, I agree. When I heard what caused that incident I scratched my head. That was one of those "who really wants to be here" deals.

Scott is the same guy who hid in the closet when a certain RB did terrible things. Lil Debbie fans soon forget. What comes around goes around.

For some reason, some of them hit the perfect storm. I agree. It's hard to explain and the coaches to plan for.

I've heard this happens in many other sports than just football. It's uncommon but not rare, IMO. If one focuses on one sport, it looks rare. if focus on all, it's uncommon but happens.

drop mic.

Sure it is. Mr. soft serve ice cream isn't there anymore to hand us a guaranteed win.
Meh. We’ll see. Can’t be worse for Nebby but

I’ve heard it’s all about talent and not coaching unless that doesn’t fit then it’s all about coaching.

Last five seasons composite team recruiting rankings:

Nebraska — 21. 26. 30. 33. 22
Iowa — 38. 47. 59. 60. 56

Scoreboard—Iowa

I don't see how this even comes close to karmic retribution for that extremely cowardly act.

Not to in any way relive or excuse the despicable actions of LP, but there have been a lot of lies told about that night that have some how become thought of as truths.

And that that "cowardly act" of Frost hiding in a closet never happened.

"According to police records and witnesses who spoke to the Omaha World-Herald and the Daily Nebraskan, Kate McEwen, a sophomore guard on the Nebraska women's basketball team, was the subject of a tug-of-war between Phillips and backup quarterback Scott Frost.

Phillips and Frost each were pulling on her, and McEwen allegedly was dragged down several stairs and hit during the fracas."

Since Nebraska has joined the B1G, it's no secret that Iowa (and Wisconsin) has (have) done a better job than Nebraska at finding guys who fit what they do and developing them.

If I had to make a bet today based nothing on a hunch, I'd say Iowa beats Nebraska in 2018, but not in 2019.

Back to rhabdo, it's obviously a bad deal when anyone is hospitalized, I hope that these guys recover fully and this never happens again.

To anyone.

OK great. We do more with less than Nebraska. Whoda thunk that?

Very well. Hopefully that is the truth.
