Resumé comparison tool

Just started looking at other teams and found this tool to compare resumés with other bubble teams. Our top 50 record is impressive, but SOS and RPI are not great. Either way, great way to pass the time on a Friday.

This is awesome thank you! Um, give me Iowa over Xavier - that was the first team I chose.

Comparing Iowa to Illinois kinda pisses me off considering Lunardi and Palm have Illinois in the tournament right now. I guess if I take off my hawkeye colored glasses Illinois has a better resume and beat Iowa twice, but they're pretty comparable. Iowa's top 50 wins are a lot more impressive than Illinois too IMO.

Also, f*** John Groce

That is going to be the squeeze for us. Illinois has a comparable, if not better, resume and they swept us. No way the B1G gets 9 teams in the tourney. We will be lucky to get 8, and it would be Illinois, not us. Best case scenario is if we draw them in the 8/9 game and blow them out.

Isn't Iowa the 7 seed if they beat PSU on Sunday? Looks like they could tie Michigan for 7th, but Iowa beat them head to head. People keep talking about the 8/9 game and then playing Purdue, but from where I sit, it looks like a 7 seed (barring disaster on Sunday).

But maybe I don't understand how the tie breakers work.

As for resume, Iowa is comparable to other bubble teams, so they've definitely got a shot.

Guess I will be a Rutgers fan this weekend and hope for Illinois to go down. :)

Yes, I think you are correct. I was just pointing out that we really need a head-to-head win against Illinois.

With this whole era of 68 teams getting in, it all just feels like a crap shoot to me. Especially when Syracuse got in last year with an RPI of 71 and then made the Final Four.

Hopefully the committee is smart enough to not focus on the Omaha loss back in early December and instead focuses on the fact that Iowa would be 10-8 in the Big Ten if they beat Penn State on Sunday.

If we are playing Illinois in the first round, it means we have to win the tournament because we lost to Penn state.

Hell, with those resumes I was cleary a better choice to dress the mannequins at Kohls.....come on man;)

We definitely have the 9th best resume in the cinference. Illinois getting hot really hurts us.

The committee consistently says they don't look at conference affiliation..."How many do we already have from the Big 10?" So the Big 10 can get 9 if Iowa looks better than enough other teams.

I know they say that, and they might even believe it, but I can't imagine it's not a factor. Even if it's only subconsciously.

Setting aside who will make it from the Big 10 which teams do you think other teams (coaches) around the country least want to play right now? I would go with this.

Purdue
Minnesota
Michigan State
Iowa
Michigan
Illinois

That order looks about right to me.

very cool tool. Yes, upsetting that the 5 teams we throttled that turned out to be LOW 250-350 really hurt us. I also compared us vs IL and their RPI is 17 higher than us, even though I think we played tougher OOC games. Apparently really penalized for those 5 teams ranked 250-350. IL also played 5 teams 200+ RPI, but theirs were all low 200's.

Seems like we scheduled 5 or 6 really tough OOC games (which we lost all but one, which hurt us). Then, the bulk of the remainder were awful teams (which also hurt us). Need more of a mix of 100-200 RPI teams (games you will probably win, but not kill your RPI). Maybe that is impossible to predict though when you schedule those?

It's not only hard to predict but all the teams in the category you're talking about are in high demand. Every team is trying to schedule them.

I'm always a rutgers fan when they're not playing Iowa. I have to cheer for the most pathetic team in every major conference unless they're ISU or I have a grudge against them.

Not only that, but Syracuse had less-than-stellar conference record and bowed out of conference tournament early.

Let's face it, if a blind resume comparison was done, and they peeled back one layer at a time, the big diversion would come at the reveal of "conference affiliation".
