Resar

Got to listen to some of Rob and Scotts pod yesterday and they mentioned that Resar might have been switched over to WR... Has anyone else heard that? Rob said he hasn't been able to confirm it but thinks it might have happened. Leave it to Iowa to not try to develop an extremely fast athletic kid that wants to play QB and move him to WR.

clearing the way for whomever they pick up in the portal. IMO
Yeah for sure. We'll have a better idea down the stretch how they feel about Sullivan. And even if they love the idea of him being the man next yr they don't seem to be high on Lainez. They'll be bringing a body in next yr from the portal for sure if they can get one. That'll be a total crapshoot though on how good of one they can get. But they'll be trying

Why would you want to try to fit a square peg into a round hole? The staff and probably the kid himself recognized that he didn't have the tools to play Power 4 quarterback. He has good size, speed and athleticism so they thought he would be a better fit at WR. Marvin McNutt made the same move all those years ago and that turned out pretty good. And we could always use the help at WR. Kudos to the staff for being proactive and moving him to a spot where he could be more help to the team.

Does anyone actually have any faith on ANY decisions regarding quarterbacks at Iowa? I have exactly NONE. Proof is in the pudd

Loyalty should have nothing to do with who play QB at this point. I admire what Cade has gone through but he has not been accurate enough. Time to focus on next year.

With this staff how do we know that? They thought Petras, Hill and Cade are good qbs and all but unbenchable. To me it shows their lack of being able to coach up qbs. I saw the kids hs tape he can throw the ball he's not Tim Tebow. And even if he was closer to being a Tebow with his arm so what? There's ways to use running QBs that we evidently just don't even want to do. We'd rather have noodle armed inacurate ones like Cade I guess....

I applaud the staff for knowing when to cut bait and not trying to force something that isn't there. Would you rather keep him there and be ineffective so fans could complain more?

My point is how do we know that's true? I don't trust the staffs ability to recognize talent or evaluate if a QB can develop or not. That's why I brought up all the others before. They played Hill all yr long over Lainez till the very end. Based on Resars HS tape I didn't think he was all that bad mechanically. He's not Tim Tebow bad not even close. But guess we'll never know now

With years of evidence in, whatever QB Ferentz marches out I'd sit him on the bench and grab one of the other two. Kirk is clueless with this position. He's like a colorblind person being asked to pick the red pill from the green pill, pointless.

I say this with all due respect but I still trust a D-1 Power 4 football staff to evaluate a QB's skills over yours. They see the kid every day. Your evaluation of his HS tape can't compare. Not trying to be a DB but calling this as I see it.

Well you must have zero confidence in fellow Hawknation member @Hawkfnntn because the Iowa Hawks under Ferentz are the very worst evaluators of QB talent that I have ever witnessed in a long life of watching football.

After Hill how can anyone think that we can evaluate QB's? Anyone else in the room had to be a better choice. You do not have to know much about football to see that Hill was not a good choice.

Lol, this isn't an evaluation failure, it's a recruiting failure.

Doesn't matter how goof of an evaluator you are when you can't get high-caliber recruits. These guys are the best we can get to come here and it is what it is.

We're paying the piper right now for being the offensive laughing stocks of the country for several years.

In fairness, I think the current offensive staff is being painted with the sins of the predecessors. Lester has developed QBs and knows the position. I have a lot more faith in his tutelage than BFs.

Did they stick with CM too long? Of course. But, is that on Lester alone? When we have seen KF stick with a veteran starter too long a number of times during his tenure? KF is slow to move on from a QB and it once again cost us a year that could have been more than it will be. Lester inherited a bad QB room and is making the most of what are not amazing options, IMHO.

As for Resar, put him in the room that gives him the best shot at getting on the field and making plays. No one on this board knows enough about the situation to know whether this is a good decision or not, and frankly, we may never know. Time maybe will tell.

This is correct. I trust Tim Lester on this move. Hard to paint a broad brush and say that because previous staff members didn't recruit or develop the position well then assume that Lester can't. TL obviously came to the conclusion that this guy wasn't going to see the field, probably ever, as a QB. It's a recruiting bust, yes. But it will be much less if he can be developed into a WR that we can use.

I think sometimes coaches bring in athletes knowing that they may end up in several rooms. I mean think about it, wasn't the best athlete on your high school football team the QB and probably played defense too.

This kid was a stud athlete in HS and I suspect will find the field at some point in some way. Hard to say he is a bust until we see what happens. And, no one knows what the coaches plans were anyway. Maybe they promised the kid a shot at QB, but they were candid that he was probably going to play elsewhere? This could all be going to plan for all we know.
