Reports: QB Hank Brown Visiting Hawkeyes

This is a solid get. Not a home run (like McNamara was, LOL), but a solid double. We need one more transfer guy, IMHO, but this is a good thing. Lester is rebuilding that room with guys that fit his system.
 
The thing is will he be willing to sit behind Sullivan for another year? I’m not saying the job is Sullivan’s, but right now it looks like there’s a real good chance of it. If Brown hit the portal because he didn’t get enough PT, he could just as easily do that to us in the fall. He already burned his shirt so if he sits a whole ‘ other year he’ll only have 2 to play and I dont see it. He left because he wants PT. Sorry, but with unlimited transferring and NIL nowadays it’s dumb to get hyped about anyone until they actually walk on a field during a game. They could sign 50 QBs out of the portal but they can jump ship on us just as easy as they’re jumping ship where there currently at.

Obviously this isn’t only an Iowa problem but I just don’t see portal QBs being something you can get excited about until they bring contracts into it.

Yep, he's just another guy on the roster right now, just like X was or Epenesa and other top recruits. They may not stick around, may have injury issues, might not be good, or may be any level of good/great. We've seen it all.

Not worried about Hank transferring. If he does decide to transfer it's because of a couple of things:

He's just not good enough to win the job--good riddance
He's not willing to compete for the job because he's not a competitor--good riddance
He's happy playing at a lower level because there's no way in hell he's going to get another P4 school to take him--good riddance

However, If he's not good enough to play but stays and competes, he's probably a good guy to have in "the room" and possibly as a back-up, which we know we will probably need--good deal

They wouldn't make it in today's world. They have a kid that has major hygiene issues and they make fun of him him. Not only that, but they call him Pigpen. A bunch of assholes is what they were. The one they should have made fun of was Linus. He carries around a stupid blanket, sucks his thumb, talks on end to himself about stupid shit, and sits out in a pumpkin patch waiting for an imaginary pumpkin. Kids really shouldn't make fun of other kids, but some kids just ask for it.
 
How much do people think we had to pay Brown to come to Iowa?

We could bring in another portal QB, I guess, but as it stands now, we'll have 3 QBs, all portal guys, in spring ball with college starts under their belts. That should give Lester just what he needs. He can work them all hard and see who rises to the top. I don't see number of years left to play as the deciding factor, it ought to be who gives the team the best chance to win. Should be fun watching it all unfold.

Our dugout smells like BO before practice even starts and it’s always a freshman or sophomore who hasn’t had his parents make him use deodorant yet.

So as to not single anyone out (really it’s just because I don’t want to get sued by a 2024 snowflake parent) I always announce loudly at the beginning of the season, “I’m guessing none of you like smelling other people’s pits so I’m recommending you guys all put deodorant in your bags and use it. I am not saying any of you stink, I’m just making the assumption that some of you have onions and garlic in your pockets.”

When I was a high schooler my coach would walk right up to you and tell you to out deodorant on lol :D

Yes I believe Hank has 3 yrs to play though is what Tyler Tachmans article said. I'd assume he was told he'll have the opportunity to push Sully for the #1 gig but I would think Sully has the leg up for it next yr and he's cool with it. So I'm not jumping up and down about this signing either cause he's basically replacing Lainez. He might end up playing someday he might not.

Which makes me think we aren't done shopping in the portal yet for a QB. Among several other spots. This week should be interesting.

Knowing what we know now if Mcnamara was a "homerun" I'd rather have the solid get.

In fairness Lucy was in way too far over her head with the bookies and may have had a bounty on on her. Shaving points on the street was the only thing she could do. She hated doing it to her friend, but had no choice.
