He ran good routes, had good hands and was a really good blocker even as a freshman. He wasn't going to be a star in the NFL, but he would have been a very good 3rd or 4th WR option on a lot of NFL teams if he had been able to stay under Kirk and Ken's tutelage for 4 years.
