**Release**

That can't be the end of the story? Or I'm going to be highly disappointed.

I had my popcorn ready and everything.

...so...that's it eh?

What was the reasoning for Jewel leaving?

Transferring is what the release said...

HAMPTON TO TRANSFER…ROBINSON TO MISS BOWL GAME

IOWA CITY, IA – Sophomore running back Jewel Hampton has decided to leave the University of Iowa. And, sophomore running back Adam Robinson will not be part of the Hawkeye team that makes the trip to Arizona for the Insight Bowl. The announcement was made today by Head Football Coach Kirk Ferentz.

“Jewel Hampton has decided to leave the team and plans to transfer to another school to complete his degree and finish his career. We wish him the best of success in the future,†said Ferentz.

“While Adam has been cleared medically, he will not be participating in the upcoming Insight Bowl game as a result of failing to comply with team expectations and policies. Adam will have the option to rejoin the team when classes resume in January.â€

Hampton, a 5-9, 210-pounder from Indianapolis, IN, has been plagued by injury problems during his three years at Iowa. He has rushed for 577 yards and scored eight touchdowns as a Hawkeye. He was injured in the Arizona game earlier this season and was lost for the season following surgery.

Robinson, a 5-9, 205-pound back from Des Moines, IA, led the team in rushing with 941 yards and 10 touchdowns on the ground.

Idk...I don't understand the need to schedule a previously unscheduled press conference if that's it??

I think that is it. I don't see why they would mention ARob being suspended but nobody else. This coincides with Keenan Davis' facebook status that said the message board rumors were lies. Another example of social media running wild?

I mean my info was all along that either ARob was off the team or suspended but would NOT make bowl trip....but I don't understand the need for press conference for 2 players?

That's exactly what it is, Norwalk. The only "rumors" that I bought into were from a source that I trust, and his info turned out to be pretty accurate. Never bought into the laundry list of names from all the tweets linked last night.

not saying the entire laundry list of names from earlier is true, but there is definitely more going on than what is stated in that release.

Seriously, give it a rest. We get it. Guys on the team are unhappy. It happens when you go 7-5 and one of your best players gets busted for drugs. But the idea that the entire football team was one big cocaine-fueled party never made sense before and continues to look pretty ridiculous. What's it going to take for people to stop with this nonsense?

Take a second and think real hard about what ARob did to warrant not travelling with the team. He's being given another chance. What he does with it we shall see....

Cosign. Well stated, OC.

I'm not saying the entire football team, which is why I specifically stated in my post you quoted "not saying the entire laundry list of names from earlier is true". but in talking to who I have spoken with today, I can assure you that there is more. there WERE drug tests, and players failed/refused. it will either be "handled internally" or it will come out soon enough. there is never this much talk and then nothing. this is not to say that there is some huge conspiracy or that this will be the end of Iowa football, I'm just saying that there is more. beilieve it or dont believe it, but I know that what I heard came directly from inside the locker room.

I am not sure how many times Jon can state what is not allowed here.

You're assuming that people will believe you.

I understand that ARob did something wrong. That's obvious. It's also obvious that it was less severe than whatever Hampton did, and much less severe than DJK's incident, or he'd be booted (even if for no other reason than for Ferentz to cover his own rear).

Every night, though, as people start getting bored and Jon sleeps instead of deleting truly ridiculous posts, this insane image starts to emerge about the team. You read those posts and you get the idea that our entire starting lineup is doing rails off the bar at The Summit and that Ferentz is despised by the entire roster.

If even 25% of that was true, we would have heard a lot more today than one player being booted and another being suspended. Eventually some of you are going to have to admit that you were either woefully misled or intentionally exaggerating.

This, exactly. What's going to become public is at KF's discretion. To turn a blind eye to "rumors" is your choice and To some extent is understandable, because there are some bad ones. I can confirm with Tanabs that there is legs to some...

Lets just stop calling each other out and what not. What comes out will come out. Be what it will...

You have zero credibility. You're a clone, for chrissakes. Go away.
