Regarding Brust

A friend of mine spoke with someone extremely close to Brust yesterday, and was told that Ben plans on coming to Iowa even if Todd is not there. He chose Iowa.

Not a bit surprised. Playing in the Big Ten is BB's dream. Iowa is a perfect program for him...better tradition and facilities than NW, but not an MSU where he would sit.

I really think if lick is gone,we will find out that this group of recruits committed to the University of Iowa, not the university of lick.
That is the upside of lick's recruiting process,I suppose...if a recruit proves to lick he is worthy and humble enough to play for lick, then that recruit is probably going to have the loyalty to honor their commitment to Iowa, with or without Lick.

As we saw yesterday from Cullys comments about how they decided to push the ball more..and the resulting good looks he had from the arc...Cully and BB like uptempo ball as much as any city baller...Mundelein played very fast, and Ben got a lot of open looks in transition,so they are not tied to slo-ball by any means..and in fact would prefer to play uptempo.

first off... coming from a teacher... why the heck was he twittering in class???

Second, I posted this a few weeks ago when this question came up. The kid went to the insight.com bowl wearing his Iowa gear and cheering for Minnesota. That is a kid who is invested more in the school than the coaching staff. Which these kids really should be choosing a place that they will get a great education.

So I would be on top of the world if we get an uptempo coach and we keep this recruiting class. It appears a lot of Brusts look in high school have come in transition, and if that is what we need to get him, Gatens, and May good looks from 3. Let's do it!!

It would actually depend on who Iowa hires. Ben really really likes Coach Lickliter and Chad a lot. A lot.

Agreed. But if we get a coach like Bruce, do we still want that class intact. I'm not dogging on any of them, just asking cause they are Lick style recruits shoved into a different style of play.

NOW, we might get to see what he can do on the floor, rather than with one hand tied behind his back, as with all of these guys...

These team and players may just enjoy playing bb again...just think, we as fans will get to see what a fast break looks like again.

Anyone remember what fast breaks look like??????? Maybe even a press!

Anyone going to volunteer to help the Lickliters pack????

That would be up to the new hire. I highly doubt that a new coach could fill more than 1-2 open schollys for the fall semester and get the kind of talent he needs. So, I would expect we might lose one more player..possibly two..and then he could fill 1-3 schollys with immediate help, then work with the rest of the roster. From what I have seen, Marble,Brust, and Larson can play fast...and probably McCabe. Payne likes uptempo and I think can play that way. We are undersized anyway, and so we better either get taller in the paint or pick up the pace.

I think an announcement about Lick will take place no later then Sunday afternoon or Monday morning. Chance to make a splash with news during March madness. Now maybe a new coach won't come right away but I feel Lick news is soon coming.
