Recruits Worried?

With all the people leaving the team in recent years it seems like some recruits could be worried about coming to Iowa City. Hopefully the McCall and Coker departures don't cause any other casualties.

Now I think we can all agree something publicly needs to be said... If not the whole truth... Something.

One would hope so. Especially with an important prospect like Johnson. Someone who is needed to fill a void on the team. I really hope that Ferentz and Co. get out and tell these kids that everything is fine, or at least say something publicly.

That's just what we need. Only thing to top our biggest recruits leaving would be, if Penn State still gets a better recruiting class then us after all the s*** going on there. That would speak volumes for where our football program is truly headed.

The woe is me attitude on the message boards probably isn't helping anything. It's clear 17 and 18 year old kids monitor message boards and social media. The constant complaining, negativity, ect... can't help anything.

You think Iowa is the only school with attrition? The rate at RB is absolutely alarming though and ridiculous. However check schools like Bama and Miami that routinely sign 30+ recruits where only 25 make it to campus. That is much greater attrition.

"Laughing stock" is a stretch, but Coker isn't the first player to leave the team for one reason or another.

i don't know how that (why coker left the team) is a reflection of the 'program'. are you saying the staff is at fault for recruiting him to the team?

you don't think that guys understand if you sexually assault someone, or allegedly do so, that ramifications follow? he's probably fortunate she didn't want to press charges and have her name drug through the iowa city mud.

is the staff supposed to put these guys in a bubble?

oversigning is a beautiful thing. it allows sec teams to have 5 recruiting classes in 4 years. they are still limited by scholarship limits - so you want to talk about attrition!

Exactly ankle. Recruits should be worried about oversigning by 8 kids per yr not by a few kids who make bad choices in their personal time.

That will probably happen anyway.

Kirk will handle this the same way he handles transfer requests, with as little confrontation as possible. Now that Johnson has posted this, Kirk isn't happy and is probably done with him.

I would certainly hope that's not the case. He's a HS kid relaying his feelings. I'm sure the staff is in contact and trying to calm the waters.
