Recruits Worried?

Honestly, if I were a recruit I'd wonder what's going on at Iowa. Over the past few years there haven’t been a lot of positive stories coming out about the football program. Everything they read lately about the school spells trouble. The cloak of secrecy makes it even worse.

I'm an adult and when I see this type of thing I even wonder WTH. Can you imagine the parents reactions?

How is it a sad creepy life to be friends with a fellow student? Sorry that I'm not an old timer with nothing better to do than complain about people's social lives.

I love how people blame Ferentz...he wasn't happy with the suspension back then....Coker's suspension (which caused his transfer consequentially) came down from the University itself.

But if he had anything to do with it, we should have kicked him off, our fanbase is nutso.

The only thing that is certain about next season is that KF will make another $4 million. Is he too busy counting his money to do a little damage control?

They are talking about Johnson, who is not a student yet. Why are you facebook friends with someone you have never met, or has no idea who you are, just because you know who they are.

you have no idea what you are talking about.

btw: name the more successful iowa football coach in your lifetime than the coach you are making derogatory comments about.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and guess it's because he committed (for the time being) to Iowa. Why do you care?

As has already been stated, Coker is not the first player to leave the program in the last couple of years, for one reason or another. Not even close, unfortunately.

At some point, it becomes a trend. And I think we have already reached that point. Or passed it.

Yet some people will continue to say that KF is just a victim of bad luck, just like people were saying about Lickliter when players were flooding towards the exits after every season. I don't buy it, not when you have that many players getting in trouble or leaving the program every year... A couple players here and there, sure. But it's been what, 25-30+ recruits in the past 2-3 years? That seems pretty excessive, doesn't it?

Something isn't right.

It is worrisome to me on the recruiting front. It's hard to explain why all these students are leaving. Especially when it is a kid like Coker who was known as an outstanding student and citizen. If you don't think that recruits watch these boards/twitter to see what we think you are silly. There was a lot of negativity blaming anyone from Coker to Sally mason with zero fact. That is probably confusing and scary to recruits.

he asked how it was creepy to be friends with a fellow student. Well Johnson isn't a fellow student yet. he's a commit who lives in Illinois.

I think it is very weird to be facebook friends with people you have never met.

I think it's weird that some people run without shoes.

Is the transfer rate at Iowa different from those at other universities, or is it just that you pay more attention to the tranfers at Iowa than you do elsewhere?

not sure why you quoted me on this. I think Iowa is probably on par with other universities, just more at certain positions than others. I have no facts to back that up, just opinion.

Well the main reason to add commits, soon to be fellow students, is because its a free recruiting tab. No I don't personally go to his profile to look at his posts, but that one just happened to be on my news feed or whatever right when I logged in. For me, the reason to add them is because you can keep tabs like what I posted here. And no, I don't find it weird to be facebook friends with someone you don't know. Maybe I'm just a product of new technology.
