Recruiting Roundup - Late Signing Period

McDonald will be officially visiting this weekend. Was at K State last weekend and has Ole Miss scheduled for next weekend.

'18 LBs Seth Benson (signee from Sioux Falls Washington), Jayden McDonald (Suwanee, GA North Gwinnett) & James Miller (Sefner, FL Armwood) are scheduled to officially visit Hawkeyes this weekend. As things stand now, those will be the only officials for this weekend. Of course, that could change.

Miller is somebody Iowa offered last year. I wrote about him then: LINK

There hasn't been much buzz between him and Iowa until recently. The Hawkeyes visited him yesterday. He also picked up a Florida State offer yesterday.

As a senior, Miller 163 tackles with an amazing 47 for loss and 12 sacks. Here are his senior highlights: LINK

I definitely hope we land McDonald and Miller. Those are some crazy good stats for Miller.

Reading a bit about Miller and FSU..................looks like nearly the entire FSU staff showed up at Miller's HS yesterday......two other prospects they're interested in there as well as Miller. Something called the "Armwood Curse" exists where FSU has had very little success in last 10 years landing players from this football factory.

Taggart & staff trying to send a message.

Pleasantly surprised at some of our early '19 & '20 class offers are in areas that we usually give little attention to. I think we can thank some of the new blood that's come aboard on the staff in the last several years for providing some of the "enlightenment".........of course offering and landing are two different things but I'm detecting a bit more of a think big attitude.

I definitely think the early signing period has a lot to do with that. With only a handful of more spots to fill in this class, they can focus most of their attention on recruiting and scouting the next cycles.

I really believe the early signing period is going to benefit smaller or less prestigious programs much more than bolstering the already strong blue-blood recruiting.
